So on Saturday we are hoping to book a place in the quarter finals with a home tie against Woking. The winners will collect a handy £6000 whilst the losers take home £1750. Woking have had a mixed January and unlike us had a rest this Tuesday. You can expect a hard fought contest in this local derby with no certainty that the competition can continue. Hopefully it will and we are in the draw for the last 8.

Personally I think this is potentially the right game at the right time. After the exhausting 8 days previously, mentally the players could do with a pick up and an incentive, and I think the Trophy provides it. I'd rather be playing them in the Trophy then the league than the other way round!

Could well be that we don't play Woking on Tuesday looking at the weather forecasts. Not sure the 3G can cope with a lot of snow !

It doesn't look like there is going to be a lot of snow (which is more likely to affect Kent and Essex than us)

Looking forward to this one today - it’s just such a pity it’s behind closed doors as I think this tie would’ve generated a half decent attendance in normal circumstances.
I note from our preview that we’ve a 4 wins from 4 record against The Cards in the Trophy with our last meeting against them in the early 90’s. Really hoping that the weeks worth of travelling hasn’t impacted too much and we can get out there and do the job moving into the quarters. Cards fans don’t seem too confident on their prediction thread.
Dowse referred to Sutton during his Friday presser “Sutton have been the most overachieving club this season, with a brilliant management team. Went up [to Stockport], rolled up their sleeves, and what a result. In the top seven and have got no right to be there; they’re there because they’ve got a good management team, community, squad, the lot.” - I feel he’s always been pretty respectful towards Sutton and said nice things about us.
Up the U’s!

Up the U’s! Aside from needing a babelfish to understand him, Dowson is one of those top managers in the league who brings success to every club he manages, and also is a really decent bloke. There's nothing to dislike about him, he's obviously talented but never has a bad word to say about the opposition and if we'd not found Matt, I wouldn't have had any issue with him being our manager. Always has time for the fans and the 4 local clubs he's managed, you'll find it really hard to find anyone with a bad word to say about him. I really wish him the best (except for the next 3 days of course!)

It hasn’t been a good first half performance from the U’s. Need to do a lot better!

They were right at Halifax, another game he's done nothing, Sho-Silva. Time too move him on.

We might as well have played Jenny the Giraffe up front instead of Sho -Silva !

So no trip to Wembley (in the Trophy at least) this year.
Disjointed performance from us, obviously not helped by injury to two of our players, Tanto going off very early in the game and then Will Randall, with what looked a more serious problem, departing the ground in an ambulance in the second half. Hope he's OK. We could have done with Omar on the field earlier.
Our link-up play in the final third just wasn't working, but credit to Woking who defended much better than on their last visit to GGL. As they ran down the clock in the eight minutes of stoppage time, our players seemed to have run out of ideas.

V disappointing and probably a similar side on Tuesday with the two injuries. Time to give Keeley a run out?
