The real Sutton only played for about 20 minutes today. For most of the game we were well below par. Maybe the sign of potential champions? Good point. I think so. To be honest over the 90mins overall, I think we played better at Wrexham and lost 4-0. That first half in particular is possibly the worst Sutton half I've seen all season. But to still get a point out of it shows something which can put us above the others.

I love their managers expression that Sutton try to buy decisions in and around the box!!!! Surely not!! Sounds like pre emptive excuse building, to me. Could he be worried that they'll conceed free kicks around the box, from which we will score? And can then blame us/the ref for it? Could be. Oh dear, I wonder how much it cost Sutton to “buy-in” those two goals from “set pieces”?

Obviously not at our best today until those last 20 mins. Kenny Davis's brilliant goal line clearance held off the second goal but for once the defence went missing for their second and like the first, it was a good finish across Dean.
Big credit to Matt G here immediately bringing on Callum K and freeing up Harry in the middle. We began to attack with more purpose. Got a goal back following a header against the bar from a corner and what a strike for the second goal.
Showed a lot of guts when most teams would have folded. It wasn't pretty but as I keep saying, pretty football alone wins nothing in this league.
Over the two matches, Halifax has looked a decent side but the last 20 mins, when I thought having played Tuesday and them not, we would have tired; the fact that it was the other way round once again is testimony to the fitness and conditioning of the squad not to mention their desire to keep this unbeaten run going.
If last week felt like a loss, this week feels like a win. The vagaries of football fortune in eight days.

Certainly did feel like a win and with the exception of Wrexham, the chasing pack all dropped points. Another game chalked off and we have a few days rest now before going to the Wood.

See Woking and Notts County both lost to lower opposition in the Trophy Fantastic achievement for the Urchins to edge past County to book their place in a Wembley final for the first time in their history. And ex-U Chris Dickson scored the final penalty in the shoot-out, 5 out of 5, not too shabby!

Good argument today for 3G particularly for a pitch used for the oval and round ball. Our passing was wayward because the surface was very uneven. Unfortunately Kenny found it hard to find a team mate. It doesn’t matter how much you water a weed it still needs digging up.

Delighted with that point. I reckon we’ve used up a get-out-of-jail card there! I’d all but given that one up.
I'm trying not to get too excited, but it’s getting difficult not to!

Playing almost the same eleven every game beginning to take its toll. Let's see some of the other squad players starting, they need gametime, surely.

The Halifax forum is worth a look. During the game some of their fans reckoned that our players would tire towards the end and that their team's fitness would tell!

Totally appreciate that but surely you don’t change a winning team?! Minor changes sure but too many it disrupts the rhythm/system.

There is a special non-league 606 on BBC 5 Live tonight from 18:30 with Robbie Savage & Chris Sutton. Get your 📞 in to talk about our mighty club (they won’t let me on as I work for them). 08085 909693 (FREE from mobiles & landlines 📞) Guts today brilliant. If we are top 🔝 on Easter Monday evening we’ll take some shifting. I’ve got through and spoke to the researcher - but doubt I’ll get on . You never know there’s still 40 minutes left - if only Robbie Savage would stop talking !

In the space of 15 minutes, there was a sequence of 5 consecutive goal alerts in the National League that were progressively more enjoyable:
KING'S LYNN 2 Eastleigh 1 (broad smile) Halifax 2 SUTTON UTD 1 (fist pump) STOCKPORT COUNTY 1 Hartlepool 1 (Yes!) DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE 1 Torquay 0 (Woh-hoh!) Halifax 2 SUTTON UTD 2 (Get in, you beauty!!)
