There was a near gale force wind blowing from the GGL turnstiles towards the opposite corner. It died down a bit after about 60-70 minutes. Some of the football we played against the wind was outstanding.

I thought we were excellent today against a Weymouth side who deserved credit for how they defended. Torquay failing to beat Bromley suddenly makes those saying we've lost the title look rather foolish. Andy, I sincerely hope you can stay smugly perched on that high horse and ride it all the way into the Football League. Others had stated their belief the title was lost and you dismissed their opinions as worthless. I took issue with this. I really think as an admin you should be more magnanimous. Nobody's opinion is worthless, and offering an opinion countering 'the party line' is something less and less people are willing to do on this forum lest they be shot down, something which many here seemingly cannot wait for the first opportunity to do. Yes I stated my belief the title had slipped from our grasp ('gone', rather than 'lost' - the subtle difference being I meant to infer NO blame whatsoever on the team). I believe the crazy run of games in March took almost everything they had, along with the sudden expectations as bookies' clear favourites. I also did not suspect Torquay would slip up today. Strangely, in that respect Notts Co did us a minor favour with their upturn in form, forcing our good pals Bromley to up their game, which may have contributed. I stated my lack of optimism stemmed from our mid table form against others' exceptional form, and my utter dread at going to York Rd looking for a result, a ground where we have a simply awful recent record. When one offers an opinion which is not 'safe' (unlike the blind hope and optimism shown by most, with little or no facts to back them up), one obviously leaves oneself ripe to be left with an egg-drenched face. Yes, football can offer the most surprising turns of events, and yes today's result coupled with Hartlepool's possible capitulation may have swung things yet again. I would, of course, love to see my statement proven ultimately foolish, because that would mean we'd won the title, something which could only have been dreamt about for most of my life. Yes, following the progress without being at the games is a little like having your friend tell you how great it was sleeping with someone you really like, but still it's been a stunning achievement to get this close. Almost as much as I would love to see this happen, I would also love to see admins not belittle others' opinions in an almost Trumpian fashion for not aligning with their own, and for a vocal minority of regular posters to not gleefully jump on the 'safe' train at every opportunity, as if they had not an original thought in their brains. I am not afraid to be wrong, because it means I at least considered a subject and offered something to debate. Pointing a finger and saying 'I told you so' contributes nothing. It never did and it never will. I would rather be wrong and interesting, than right and achingly dull.

If you feel I've attacked you personally then there are other admins you can raise this with. Going back to the football and our league position. In addition to closing the gap, we can now finish no lower than 4th. If Hartlepool fail to beat us, they mathematically can't overtake us unless they can claw a goal difference on minus 12 or something. It also means that if we end up in the play offs, we are certain of a home fixture, and close to being certain of a semi final game. However this season ends up, this has been phenomenal by a small club on limited resouces.

Oh Dear. The Torquay Chairman seems to have had trouble with a pub team from Kent with a plastic pitch.

To Baboonfish. To be fair to Andy K., he does publish his own health warning. Look at his Tag: you can see he is going to "Ram his opinion down your throat in a supercilious and condescending manner." You can't say you weren't warned.

However this season ends up, this has been phenomenal by a small club on limited resouces. That's weak. If you'd actually read my post you'd see, no you didn't attack me personally, I'm just calling you out for being a bully. You don't seem to get the difference between lively, respectful debate and bullying others for not having opinions aligned with your own. It's a shame as there are many on here who enjoy a decent exchange of opinions but they've mostly been silenced, hence why the forum became somewhat of an echo chamber full of lick-spittle side-kicks who appear to enjoy nothing more than 'I told you so' rather than bringing anything interesting to the table. Sadly, you seem to have got what you wanted.

How about this thread returns to the game? Much more important than some kind of slanging match, which you could do in private.

New Zealand Sauvignon? Lanark Lane is the absolute pinnacle.
Within my price range that is.

Tough question. I think Grimsby and Southend must be serving a white whine to go with their seafood, so I'll take the red.

Or otherwise known as the 'you have been warned' defence. Sorry, it doesn't wash in this day and age. I don't care if it comes with a pre warning or not, I'm bored of seeing people bullied off this forum because their opinions don't tally with Andy and his cronies. It's a duller place for it.
