It is the clubs that object not the EFL itself. seems ludicrous.

I'm assuming Gander Green Lane. I remember reading that a few years ago when Sutton reached the play-offs the plan was to lay a hybrid pitch giving around 30 hours a week usage. I may be wrong about the time given but I'm also assuming that the plan is pretty much the same.
Chief Groundsman role up for grabs though!

I realise it’s not a popular opinion on herebut I personally am looking forward to seeing us play on grass - or hybrid - again. I get all the arguments about the revenue benefits, the community aspect and durability and I don’t believe it is an unfair advantage in any way. However we are not talking about a return to a boggy December mess but presumably rather a modem hybrid solution and I for one am looking forward to seeing that

The problem at Sutton isn't just the grass it is the London clay it grows on. Water doesn't drain away so hopefully that will be addressed.
The other issue was the underground stream whose water level rises during serious wet spells. I think a pipe was buried to resolve that problem.

One issue was that they did not want to incur the expense of installing a 3G pitch but were concerned that it gave a financial advantage to any that did. Says something about the precarious financial position within which many League 1/2 clubs operate.

The question on everyone lips I am sure is how is the work at GGL being financed, I understand the pitch alone in the region of 500 thou plus. This has to be done as a requirement of playing in the EFL. Do the football authorities provide investment or give interest free loans. I appreciate that the amount is petty cash to Premiership clubs and players, but for clubs at the lower level its mega bucks. I am sure Bruce and his team of fellow directors have explored every angle to make the sums add up.

We have American investor, that’s why the shares were released so the money is there to do the work. So the board have things in hand⚽️⚽️
