Rochdale, who will surely be playing in the National League next season, part company with manager Jim Bentley. www.rochdaleafc.co.uk/news/2023/march/clubstatementjimbentley_270323/It's unclear whether Bentley has finally thrown in the towel or the club's hierarchy have now lost faith in him. Maybe both. Rochdale have been a Football League club since 1921 but have spent all that time in the two lower divisions.

Looking increasingly like Rochdale will already be relegated by the time we play them just before the end of the season.

Looking increasingly like Rochdale will already be relegated by the time we play them just before the end of the season. And it will almost certainly be their final home game as an EFL club. The atmosphere will be either funereal or mutinous.

AFC Wimbledon reached the 90th minute of both their Easter fixtures in the lead and looking set for 6 points - but they conceded 4 goals in injury time (two in each game) and ended up with one point.

I read somewhere that Walsall have the biggest budget in EFL2 - which, if true, I find surprising.

Swindon sack Jody Morris as manager. As I understand it, he inherited a largely young and inexperienced team (plus Charlie Austin) which are currently 10th in the table. A couple of weeks ago they beat Bradford at home and won 5-1 at Wimbledon a few days later. He also did a fantastic job developing young players at Chelsea. Don't think that he will be out of work for long. In the interim, we may see him in the crowd at GGL as he lives nearby.

MULTIBALL / TOWELS
The EFL will introduce a multiball system in all its competitions for the 2023/24 season. Match balls will be placed on cones in designated areas at pitch side to help increase the time of the ball being in play. Meanwhile, Clubs will no longer be permitted to use towels or other articles, including items obtained from spectators to dry footballs during matches.
