Get used to it. Have a read of what I said on this thread page 2 on 17th June. It’s purely commercial, nothing to do with tradition. Unfortunately.

Interesting - I've been saying for years that football and sport in general could do a lot more to accommodate people with colour blindness. Maybe of interest to you, or others, but the EFL is organising a "Colour Blind Forum", in partnership with the charity Colour Blind Awareness. It could be that after all those years football is taking notice of you! If anybody is interested in attending, and also representing the Club, please feel free to get in touch with me to arrange. Scheduled for Tuesday 26th October at 1pm (online and in person - venue tbc).

Hello everybody, quite a new follower to SUFC, as a work colleague talked me into it and I've really enjoyed it every time I have been.
Just wanted to touch on this as seen a few mention it in this thread and I am a bit of a kit aficionado of sorts. Typically these days Away / Change kits are just those. Gone are the days of teams wearing their Away kit solely if there is a kit clash as we would be used to from days gone by (Change Kit), now teams tend to have what now adays we would call an Away kit where the team wears that kit Away from home regardless of whether their Home kit clashes or not.
And then of course the Third or Alternate kit incase the Away does actually clash. All way too OTT and technical for football kits of course but kit choice / selection these days is far removed from what a lot of us are probably used to in say the 1990s.
Ps. Am I the only one who thinks the club missed a trick making the new Third kit Black? Having it in Chocolate with Amber trimming would have been unique and really something else. :-)

Whilst I agree to some extent there is a black and yellow theme running through our merchandise already, caps, coats and polo shirts to name a few.
A few years yet before brown is the new black.

When Sutton were first formed, they ordered a kit of maroon and gold but ended up with dark brown and amber, it may have happened again, they ordered chocolate and amber but have ended up with black and yellow

Almost. Back in 1898 the players at clubs were given caps (just like internationals still are) but it was found that chocolate and amber caps were much cheaper than maroon and gold, so the brown caps were purchased and the club colours changed accordingly.

But for a budgetary twist of fate, we could've been twinned with the San Francisco 49ers.
