Fiasco maybe a bit strong? Minor inconvenience maybe?

It's not a complete failure granted, but I don't see sufficient justification for only allowing home fans to buy tickets online.

Fiasco maybe a bit strong? Minor inconvenience maybe? I'm sure those people not living near Sutton or are unable to collect tickets in advance at short notice in a 4 hour window of opportunity wholeheartedly agree with you.

It’s either going to cost an extra £1 or someone can collect on your behalf, am sure 99% of fans have someone who can.

I think fans need to get a grip here. This maybe the way forward as we are now a league club. It was so easy to do things beforehand. New procedures may need up followed. Coming on here and practically blaming the club, is not really helpful.

If you've got a problem with that then tough.

We are led to believe that one of the reasons that this is common practice is because away clubs want to give sales priority to their S/T holders, so need to have control of sales.

Whilst I'm not questioning what you've been led to believe, logically this makes no sense in grounds that segregate home and away fans.

Makes sense to me. There will be occasions where bigger clubs sell out their allocation and rightly the away side will want to prioritise (as we have done in the past for cup games - say Wimbledon away). It would be nice if there was a bit of flexibility mind if rules allow, i.e if we have 1,000 tickets for Bradford it’s pretty obvious we won’t sell out!

If you've got a problem with that then tough. As a Huddersfield Town fan (albeit now a SUFC season ticket holder) in my experience you always have to purchase tickets for away games through your own club (I.e. SUFC). In normal circumstances (pre-COVID) I expect tickets would have been available to purchase for FGR at least a week earlier than they were this time (tickets for Town fans for the away game at Derby on Saturday were only made available from last Friday). I expect tickets for future away games after FGR to be made available more in advance, assuming there is no pullback on the COVID regulations. However, you’ll have to buy them through SUFC rather than direct from the home team’s ticket office. I expect you’ll always still be able to buy a ticket for the away stand on the day but expect to pay at least £1 extra, I’m afraid. Clubs always have a ticket booth/office specifically for away fans.

"logically this makes no sense in grounds that segregate home and away fans."
If the visiting club is allocated, say, 500 places but has 2,000 fans who want to travel then they may wish to ensure that ST holders, members or whatever have first priority over those 500 tickets

Because there is no need. We’re not going to have demand exceeding supply.
