Even typing the title of this thread I'm pinching myself.
So for our debut in the Football League Cup/EFL cup, 61 years after it was launched gives us a really plumb tie. Cardiff finished 1 position shy of the play offs, were of course in the PL a few seasons ago and are one of the biggest clubs we could face at this stage. To me, in this competition, this is on par with getting one of the big six away in the FA Cup. Cardiff of course are managed by a former international manager, Mick McCarthy, who joined them in January of this year. Previous to that he managed in my beloved Cyprus for APOEL Nicosia, where he won 2 matches in charge.
As for who they will put out tomorrow, when you are a team like Cardiff, you could put out a mostly u23 side or you could put out your strongest XI. I have no idea which they will go for, but if it's the former, I really wouldn't write us off for getting a result. The rewards are a game in 3 weeks time against a possible PL side. And that could be at home. In our first match at home as a Football League side.
Whatever happens I think it's going to be a great experience, and make us really feel like a league team more than Saturday ever could. And no rain is forecast!

I would think that our target of 50 points is more important and as a result we will give game time to those that did not feature on Saturday. Tough game against Salford coming up.
I expect Dundo to make an appearance.

I expect Dundo to make an appearance. I wouldn't be so sure of that. We're actually playing one game less at the moment in August than all of the other teams in the division bar Hartlepool (as that fixture has been moved), and bearing in mind we don't have a midweek fixture until 31st Aug now combined with a bit of stop start pre-season (certainly for the 4 players who went down with Covid). it could well end up being a similar side to Saturday than one may expect.

Watched Cardiff on Saturday v Barnsley for work.
K Moore should start against us as he only played the last 10 or so minutes coming on as a sub.
Decent team - like to get it down the flanks for L Bacuna & J Collins to get on the end of the crosses.
Looked a big strong team - I think our lads will enjoy playing in a neat stadium 🏟 with a lovely playing surface.

I expect Dundo to make an appearance. This is my worry, that so many cup games may distract and overload us. Surely the league is our no1 priority. But the temptation of making money off of good cup runs might also be there.

Totally relaxed about this one. A Sutton win would be fantastic (and worth a few bob), but a defeat would hardly be a surprise and would allow us to focus more on the league. Que sera sera.
Cardiff City is of course one of Matt Gray's former clubs.
I'm not recommending any pub in Cardiff, mainly as I haven't visited the city in the last ten years. But one place I'll be checking out before the game is the Lansdowne (71 Beda Road CF5 1LX). This is described in the Good Beer Guide as an 'award-winning community pub'. It seems to offer a good beer selection! It's on the corner of Lansdowne Road (A4161), about half a mile from the Cardiff City Stadium (I hope not close enough to be rammed with home fans). No car park.
For those travelling to Wales, remember that the Covid restrictions haven't been relaxed quite as much as in England. Face coverings are still mandatory in shops and on public transport (though not in pubs).

Actually that's wrong. No Carabao or FA cup matches will appear on ifollow (Papa John's matches will). Short highlights will appear on Quest.

Would love to wear the new Sutton shirt tonight but I've not been able to make it up to the club to collect my order now I live further afield.
That aside, can't wait for tonight! What an experience it is going to be!!
