Well done to the team and overall a brilliant start. Putting aside the League Cup defeat which was not unexpected we have had one defeat and two draws out of the first three away games.

From the limited evidence we've seen so far, the standard of goalkeeping at this level is higher than in the National League. The Scunthorpe keeper Watson kept them in the game in the first half, and it required some cute skill from Donovan Wilson to beat him. What's keeping us in games is the strength and organisation of our back four (missing Louis John yesterday, but Coby Rowe is an able deputy). For me, Ben Goodliffe was our MotM.

Goodliffe is a worthy contender for MOTM, not least for his courageous block in the penalty area that prevented an otherwise almost certain goal, but my money's on Ben Wyatt. That young man was a hero, he had claret pouring from his head in the first half necessitating not one but two sets of bandages, sustained another blow to his head in the 2nd half leading up to Scunthorpe's goal that laid him out for a couple of minutes, yet somehow still managed to play on for the entire match with no discernible drop in the quality or intensity of his play. He was first to virtually every ball he contested for and I only recall him being beaten by a Scunthorpe player once. He was rock solid at left back yesterday and I was very impressed with his performance indeed.

And it's worth adding that Ben W only played because Rob Milsom wasn't fit.
