On the road again for the 4th time in 2 week, another 400 mile odd round trip to Lincolnshire for the first time since I believe we played Lincoln 5 years ago. Scunthorpe were predicted to be one of the league's strugglers and like us, have yet to win in either league or cup (albeit playing an extra game than us). Their manager won't be unfamiliar to us either, Neil Cox was assistant to Neal Ardley both at Notts County and when we put AFC Wimbledon out of the FA Cup in 2017.
Of course they do have ex-U Aaron Jarvis, but I don't think he's featured in a game so far.
This is the first time in my memory that we've played a team with the same initials as us. SUFC v SUFC. Hopefully the historians on here can tell us when, or if, that's happened before.
I don't think this is going to be the last time something like this gets mentioned, but 11 seasons ago, 5 divisions separated us and Scunthorpe (We were in the Ryman league, they were in the Championship). Tomorrow we play them as equals.

Ha ha as I was 1 at the time, it certainly wasn't in my memory! But thanks for pointing it out!

In a couple of weeks time our youth team are playing Southend United.
Not sure if we have ever played Skelmersdale United? We certainly came close in 1969 when we lost to North Shields in the Amateur Cup Final. North Shields beat Skelmersdale United in the semi final.

Surprise, surprise, rain is forecast, bring your brollies Not needed, the ground is entirely under cover. Even though the stadium is only 30 years or so old it’s looking a bit scruffy and dated, but the atmosphere usually isn’t too bad from my experience.

Students of British football stadia will know that Scunthorpe United's Glanford Park was the first of the 'new generation' of grounds, opened in 1988.

I echo the above, this is a bread and butter EFT2 fixture, its going to be tough like every match will be at this level. Its a question of taking something from these matches more often then not which determines who survives and who doesn't in league football.

Got train tickets from Ebbsfleet to Scunthorpe- but some git decided to close the A2 for repairs on a Saturday so whole road is a complete car park. Been stuck in a mega jam for 90 mins now and this missed all trains that would get me there on time. What a @@@@@@. May end up going to Tonbridge v Bath if I can ever get out of this A2 chaos
