I know I will get kicked again for this but we desperately need a keeper to have the slightest chance to resist in EFL. Dean has been great last season but he killed us 4 games out of 5 this season. We’re last and the only team not to have won a game yet. It’s gonna be hard. We are basically playing same 11 as last year minus the top scorer. Not looking good in my opinion. Can’t fault the players efforts but I’m afraid we need more to survive in EFL. Dean isn't responsible for us having significantly less possession than an away team or for the poor completed passing rate, or how we're obviously lacking potency up front. If you honestly think the keeper alone is to blame for the fact we are only on 2 points out of 4 games (hardly a disaster so far), then in all honesty I don't need to take your football assessment seriously. Absolutely, it is not only the keeper. Missing huge chances in a game we were the better team (at Scunthorpe) is another factor. Not holding on to the ball at all after we got ahead is on the list too. And … noticed even last year … delaying too much the changes might be another one.

However, a keeper that keeps dropping the ball FROM HIS HANDS once per game is hardly something to build up on. If we are lacking in front, at least a solid defence might save us.

No panic here. Better team, should have won. We’ll be fine. And Omar Bugiel is a beast of a footballer. Quite simply outstanding in pinching the ball. Barden dealt with their left sided player well until the last break away. Defensively we looked fine, John/Goodliffe excellent, no real saves to make for Dean. I’m optimistic we’re looking comfortable at this level. We need a win but we’ll get one. And good attendance too, much needed funds.

Just a few thoughts. Grass on the pitch was too long and did not suit our passing game. Oldham came for a draw and presented little threat until their mindset changed after we scored. We gave away two simple goals one on the counter attack the other the player was unmarked.
We should have been at least one up after 25 minutes but wasted chances. Created very little second half. If we sign someone by close of the transfer window it needs to be an attacker capable of scoring goals.
We will be OK but we need to sort ourselves out quickly. We gave three points to a team that may be around us come the end of the season. Our worst performance so far this season.

No need to panic. So far we have not been outplayed, have created chances and have been in every game up to the final whistle. Minus points: not being clinical in front of goal and conceding deep into added time. Will all be sorted.

Dunno, looked a bit uneven too.

Well, apart from the result, I hope you enjoyed all that - worth the 123 year wait ?
Feedback welcomed, good or bad - still room for improvement.

Dave - what’s the actual position on the barriers on the right as you come in at GGL between the entrance and main stand. Stewards tried to move us on and say we couldn’t stand there about 5 mins before kick off (without success). I thought 2 deep was ok there? Another tried to move us off the barriers again later on (ignored!). Not sure a 7 yo could see the game without being at the front like that, short of being in stand which we don’t really want to do!

No room for sentiment if we want to stay in this league, mistakes and missed chances cost matches. Today we lost at home to a club who had lost their previous 4 and were low in confidence.
I am not worried about possession that doesn't cost or make points, putting the ball in the net and stopping the ball going in yours is what really matters especially at this level. We are desperately missing Tanto up front with his cool clinical finishes, and I am afraid we can't afford keeper errors week after week.
The body language also says a lot, our last home game Hartlepool was a world away from the game today against a Oldham side who are not as good as Pool. Confidence plays a massive part in the game and if you miss chance after chance and your keeper drops the ball you simply are not going to have any.

EFL rules do not allow any standing at the pitch side fence along the goal line touchline, everyone must be behind the crush barriers. Along the long touchlines limited standing is permitted at the fence at the discretion of the club but if the Ground Safety Officer considers too many people are standing at the fence or are blocking the view from the terraces then he will instruct the stewards to move people on. Standing is not allowed in front of the wheelchair platform.

I couldn't make out a single word from the curved terracing! Apart from that, it was quite an experience to witness league football at GGL.

Feedback (non footie):
Great to be back and much kudos to everyone who got us stadium ready. Amazing effort and all in all a really positive experience.
Just on the standing issue. Stewards I saw seemed either not clear on the rule or were inconsistent in implementing it. Or just stood around not doing anything. This seemed to cause great confusion and frustration. Might need a painted line on the floor? Clear steer for stewards? Signs on the fence? OR they just need to do their job?!

I cannot see Bouzanis bouncing back from this anymore, we need another keeper by Tuesday. Olaofe as well is much needed, however if I was to choose comes second to a decent keeper who does not make at least one major mistake per game. Defence is good, but if they fear any shot or cross might be a goal they will not be that good anymore. He has at least five goals to which had contributed, this is way too much, keeper usually get replaced at second or third mistake.

We really enjoyed this great and historic day for Sutton United FC ,apart from the result obviously.I think we will be OK,this and other games could've gone either way although the goal coming so late was just so disappointing. I first watched Sutton at GGL in 1965 with some classmates from school and i'd only been in the ground a minute today when i bumped into one of them! I couldn't help but think of many others who are no longer with us,we all know plenty of them. Thanks to everyone for all their efforts to get Sutton United into the football league. Thanks especially to you Dave and the nice chap who answered my phone call (i don't know his name ) for getting us the two seats we wanted in exactly the right spot.I noticed others had managed to do the same,it's really appreciated.
