So finally we get to play a EFL game at our beloved home. Although it's not how it was originally planned, I think it's nice to be against a team we've never played before, one with no non-league pedigree and one that is our first ever ex-Premier League opponents (Notts County just missed the cut on that one).
Although Oldham are ex-PL, the vast majority of their post war existence isn't at that level, mostly being in tier 2 and 3. They're managed by experienced at this level manager Keith Curle and although they currently sit at the bottom the the table, with 0 points so far, each of their defeats have only been by a single goal, and they've made it (albeit via penalties) to the 3rd round of the Carabao cup where they will travel to PL Brentford. I suggest they are less of a "pushover" than their league position suggests.
As for off the pitch matters, I think they are being well documented elsewhere, but it's obvious that they are having an effect on the field for them too, in the same way Orient and Notts County suffered a few years back. I hope Oldham don't suffer the same fate.
Now we are at home, let's hope we see a game where we can be the dominant side and get that first win to kick our season on.

Tomorrow will be a momentous day for Sutton United, our first home game as a Football League club and in a much-changed stadium. The occasion itself and a large, vocal crowd should inspire the players, but none of us will be fooled into thinking that the opposition are there for the taking. All matches at our new level will be a challenge, but sooner rather than later the players will be expected to show that they can win in League Two. Tomorrow would be a great day on which to do that.

I drove to the ground this afternoon and had a good look around (staying inside my car at all times) - I think Phil T - thought who is that nutter (I had shades on and a baseball cap 🧢 to protect the bald head from the searing Sutton heat). It looks beautiful - GGL. The grass looks lush and green. My heart and mind will be ggl tomorrow but unfortunately work takes me in another direction. Prediction to follow. Come on you UUUUUUUUUU’ssssssss

I notice that this is match number 37 on the football pools. One of my "lucky" numbers.

Well that is a lovely start to my afternoon awaiting our first league game at home, my nephew has joined me this year for our trip in League 2 we went to Forest Green and he has been asking if players would sign anything and I said I did not know. So we are early at the game and he really wanted Dean Bouzanis to sign his goalkeeper gloves and he asked and Dean kindly did so and it has made his day. This is way I love to support this club! So let's hope we can get the result today. COME ON THE U'S

I know I will get kicked again for this but we desperately need a keeper to have the slightest chance to resist in EFL. Dean has been great last season but he killed us 4 games out of 5 this season. We’re last and the only team not to have won a game yet. It’s gonna be hard. We are basically playing same 11 as last year minus the top scorer. Not looking good in my opinion. Can’t fault the players efforts but I’m afraid we need more to survive in EFL.

Dean isn't responsible for us having significantly less possession than an away team or for the poor completed passing rate, or how we're obviously lacking potency up front. If you honestly think the keeper alone is to blame for the fact we are only on 2 points out of 4 games (hardly a disaster so far), then in all honesty I don't need to take your football assessment seriously.
