You must be a young one then! When we played Colchester back in the Conference in 90/91, I was a steward. We had a briefing before the game and the police were there and gave us a black and white photocopied A4 sheet containing mugshots of "undesirables" who were either known trouble makers or had banning orders. One of them was only known by the name of "Mr Bubbles" Even 30 years on, that's still stuck with me! How weird, I am not a young one (68) and I know most of the nutcases who used to cause trouble back in the day, but I have never heard of a Mr Bubbles, I will have to make enquiries! |

Another thing you might not be aware of is our stadium is operated on a cashless system, you can’t spend cash even if you wanted to! You can pay via credit cards, Apple pay etc all over the stadium.

I shan’t actually be going to the match tomorrow, but I’ve been reading this thread from the outset and I must say, Meyrick has been bloody amazing to be helping out to this extent! I don’t know if he’s like a self-appointed online liaison for opposing fans, but my respect for Colchester United has shot up over the last 24 hours and that’s all down to Meyrick! In my idea of a perfect football world, all clubs would do likewise.

Back in the day when I was still a West Ham season ticket holder (for my sins), when Hayden joined us from Palace I thought he was a natural born leader. It's great to see him get his first full-blown managerial role and (Sutton home and away games aside) I wish him every success. |
