Hi Colchester fan here! Sadly things are a bit weird and confusing at Colchester at present, our owner is still very concerned about covid hence the rather complicated ways of dealing with tickets and lack of anyone being available at all times in the ticket office etc. Here is a link to our clubs info as regards your game www.cu-fc.com/news/2021/september/sutton-united-match-info/ If you need advice as regards parking, food, programmes etc just ask and I will do my best to help. You will be housed behind one of the goals in a stand that holds around 2000 seats so plenty of space for you all. There is a small supporters bar, cafe, and fanzone area outside of the stadium where you can normally watch the lunchtime kick off prem games on a big screen. There will be food and drink available on the concourse under the stands, also there is a pretty decent glossy matchday programme that is available free with your ticket, they will be piled up just inside the turnstiles as you come in. There is plenty of hospitality offers for those with deeper pockets including private boxes should you like one! www.cu-fc.com/news/2021/august/sutton-hospitality/

Yup, that info was much appreciated.
This will be our fifth away game of the season and the ticketing arrangements have been different for each one! I daresay that all will become familiar over time.

That’s no problem Fran1 I am sure you will enjoy it except for the traffic which can be bad, our town is growing very fast! I will be there with my daughter who is coming down from Ashtead Surrey with her husband and his brother, they both support Sutton as well as their Premiership teams, they grew up in Sutton and the family have a long association with the club. I know what it is like to go away not knowing anything about the club you are going to, so I thought I would offer some local knowledge as I have lived here all my 68 years!

I’ve been to your ground three times, although the last time was in 2012. At that time we were encouraged to park at the railway station and catch the park-and-ride bus to the ground. Is that still the case, or can you park at the ground now and get access straight onto the A12?

Yes Aleman, covid is still throwing a big spanner in the works, clubs are wary of things changing back to how they were and fans of smaller clubs like ours are still not coming back in force at present at most clubs. You will get a great view wherever you are seated, these bubble arrangements do stop you booking the exact seats you want but if you find you are not happy with your allocated position just ask a steward and I am sure they will let you move. No doubt our old player Eastmond will have a stormer, players often seem to do exceptionally well at their old clubs!

Is that still the case, or can you park at the ground now and get access straight onto the A12? There are only 700 parking spots at the stadium but if any are free you can book them on the Col U ticketing page at £6 each. Since your last visit there is a park and ride on the A12 right opposite the stadium, the cost for a car without the ride part is £3. People park there and just walk across the A12 via the footpath. There is also a McDonalds, service station and an M&S food shop near there. Read the details of the park and ride system here. www.essexhighways.org/getting-around/bus/park-and-ride/colchester-park-and-ride Edit….. I meant to say the old system of a shuttle bus from various points of the town ( What you called park and ride) was discontinued a few years ago due to cost.

Any information to pass on to the driver re parking would be appreciated. Thank you. John p Good afternoon John, the away coaches have designated parking spots right beside the stadium, there is plenty of space for several coaches. I am not sure if the coach company have to pay or prebook them though, if you contact the clubs main switchboard I am sure they will be able to put you through to someone who will help you. These parking spots are in the main club car park only a few yards from the stadium and all its facilities. Tel 01206 755100 Poor picture I know but coach parking is shown on the right hand side of this shot where that single car was parked! Attachments:

What a lovely post, thanks Meyrick! The only time that I visited your stadium was three (maybe four) seasons ago, (when you played Stevenage). I was able to park without any problem in nearby residential roads (all new-build) and walk the short distance to the stadium. Is this still possible, or have parking restrictions now been imposed? Must say that I liked the stadium, with its roomy feel and ease of obtaining food and drink.

As I said above there is now parking at the new (Ish) park and ride, you can buy parking only for £3 and then use the link road to walk across the A12. Its not a bad stadium for a modern one, but for old time fans like me it will never be as good as Layer Road! Don’t risk parking in restricted areas though because the wardens have a afternoon ticket fest after the game has started!

Thanks for the info! Tell me, is Mr Bubbles still a fan? Hi Andy, I am not sure who Mr Bubbles is! You must be a young one then! When we played Colchester back in the Conference in 90/91, I was a steward. We had a briefing before the game and the police were there and gave us a black and white photocopied A4 sheet containing mugshots of "undesirables" who were either known trouble makers or had banning orders. One of them was only known by the name of "Mr Bubbles" Even 30 years on, that's still stuck with me!
