Very annoyed with some of our young following tonight especially the idiot who went on the pitch to do celebratory 'slides' at the end. Where were the stewards? There was also continuous abuse for our ex goalkeeper (one of our best IMO) - very embarrassing. I enjoyed the match though! This tends to be a bit of an issue anywhere when a team starts to get a bit good and has a bit of success, the new breed of hanger oners tend to ruin it for the hardcore with stupid behaviour.

One thing I would say about the pillocks in the crowd last night is that were not the regulars. They were ones who obviously turned up due to a cheap ticket and the fact we were playing out closest league team. I expect they had no idea who Nik Tzanev was and seemed to get triggered at the start of the 2nd half when our regulars gave Tzanev a round of applause and that was reciprocated. (and rightly so).
Somehow I can't see them turning up against Mansfield.

A very pleasant surprise after the confused style of play in the FA Cup game three days ago. We held well to the ball, created very elaborate chances and defended almost perfect, even diving in front of the opositions shots at the end. Good to have a real midfielder on finally - Rob is a fantastic player but not a central midfielder. Wasn't Rob a midfielder in his previous "life"? I thought that was Bardem but maybe I am wrong

...but yes, Jon Barden transitioned from midfielder to right back, and very effectively too.

He was arrested, and won't be welcomed back. Unfortunately it doesn't reflect well on the Club, and featured in the referee's official report. (The groundsman wasn't happy either!).

Another decent crowd, especially for the maligned PJT somewhat marred by the ignorance (of both SUFC and in general) of a group of local £6ers and the action of one who may now get a criminal record for his intrusion. I have to say there didn't appear to be any stewards at the GGL end to even attempt preventing it, probably looking out for the smokers behind the covered terrace.
Enjoyed these PJT matches and not just because we have won them all. Less stressful than a league or FA Cup match and U's have played some decent, relaxed football in all three. The margin of victory would have been greater but for a fine performance by Nik T. I had asked him not to reproduce a Bromleyesque performance but he obviously didn't listen!
Great to see Kenny D back and also enjoyed Ricky K's performance on the left, especially in the second half. Richie B was unfortunate not to net on his return (Nik again) and Tobi S-S also was thwarted by one decent stop.
Considering the changes made and the ongoing absenteeism this was a polished display. The AFCW forum suggests they lost to a Sutton second XI but that is rather a harsh measurement of the depth of our squad. Dons had plenty of possession but did so little with it while U's went forward with more purpose.
More great play from Donovan W this time to set up a chance for himself that he duly took.
Ref had a decent game although I thought a couple of their late challenges warranted a yellow earlier than the one that was shown. Both the ref and one of the lino's had shown red cards to Sutton players in their recent visits. I reminded them of that on their arrival. Both very civilised, matter of fact conversations. As one of my old employers used to say "it's good to talk".
So, we look forward to a home draw in the first ko stage of the competition. That Pompey, who, have good previous in the EFL Trophy got through at the expense of AFCW against the odds, suggests some clubs take this reasonably seriously.
Tough trip to Tranmere next. Don't score many but don't concede may either. Anyone for a 3-3? Thought not.

People standing behind me near the disabled area were more amused by the ooh ahh s—t comments from behind the goal whenever Nik took a goal kick although one did say “didn’t Sutton play Wimbledon some time ago in a cup game”. As you quite rightly say they are the nothing doing on Tuesday tonight let’s go to a football match as it’s cheap, we know SFA about Sutton but it’s cheap.

Jon Barden and Rob Milsom are both midfielders who have been converted to full-backs.

Absolutely, finances must be healthy. Doubt we budgeted for as much gate income as we’ve been getting to date. Plus some decent cup cash. Not sure how crowd cash is split in the pizza cup but usually in cups opposition get an even(ish) share. Obviously we’ve also had a lot of expenditure on the ground and we’ll need to find more to ensure we can really get it looking like a league ground. You can never have enough money at our level and we could easily lose a couple of million developing the ground to raise the level of our match day experience (toilets as per your point on the other thread, bar/catering facilities) and capacity and still have plenty to do!!

I wouldn't be so sure. There's a lot of extra expenditure and the money we got from the EFL has probably all gone on the ground. The players and management are full time now so one would assume got pay rises and we've also had to employ extra staff. Whilst I'm sure our crowds are a little higher than we budgeted for, the extra money won't go too far. There's always something that crops up that we have to spend it on.
