Well aware the money will be spent, and indeed the mill from EFL went straight on the ground, but we could have lost all 3 pizza cup games and be out of the FA Cup, there’s 50 odd k right there. All helps. All I’m really saying is I don’t think we’ll be stretched at the moment. I think we also got some covid related help that will need repaying . . . if I remember right (which I might not be).

If we intend to stay as a league club (which fingers crossed seems to be going in the right way) then I expect the club are already planning for the required increase in seats that we need. The Football League requires that the ground occupied by a club promoted to League 2 must have a certified capacity of at least 4,000 (with the ability to be increased to 5,000) which shall include at least 500 seats (with the ability to be increased to 1,000). By 1 May in its first season as a Member of the Football League, the club is required to have a certified capacity of 5,000 which shall include at least 1000 seats (with the ability to be increased to 2,000). By 1 May in its third season as a Member of the Football League, the club is required to have a certified capacity of 5,000 which shall include at least 2,000 seats.

But presume that’s all been on the agenda since we started planning for possibility of promotion last season. We get another lot of cash next season assuming we stay up which will help. All I’m saying is right now the finances must be better than anticipated, which maybe worked off 2,500 gates and no assumed prize money (other than 20k for entering pizza cup). Yes developing the ground is always going to be hard to do well and finance without serious input from someone somewhere! A decent stand costs a fortune but we must have a plan right?! I don’t think developing the ground is likely to be done from gate revenue and prize money, barring a lovely FA Cup draw.

To be fair I don't know when those rules were put in place, but certainly AFC Wimbledon met the seating rule by the time they sold the ground to Chelsea in in 2015.

I don’t think the capacity was 5,000. That was the issue?

I don’t think the capacity was 5,000. That was the issue? I think so, but the ground was designed to have a capacity of over 6,000 before new safety rules came in (a bit like our ground had a higher capacity before the FA Cup run of 2016/17) so I expect they were cut a bit of slack. I think they were only around 150 odd below the 5,000.

The match thread seems to have been highjacked! Perhaps those seeking answers to questions regarding club finances and ground capacity targets might want to add them to the 'Meet the Manager' thread as our Chairman will be giving voice at the end of the evening.

Very annoyed with some of our young following tonight especially the idiot who went on the pitch to do celebratory 'slides' at the end. Where were the stewards? There was also continuous abuse for our ex goalkeeper (one of our best IMO) - very embarrassing. I enjoyed the match though! Some nice comments from Nik on Twitter
