Yes and what's more it was bloody freezing !!! Must be a Bristol thing. I went to watch Palace at Bristol City a fair few years ago now just after Xmas, literally the coldest I have ever been at a football game I think.

Not exactly freezing (temperature was about 6°C), but a brisk westerly coupled with a sloping pitch were conditions we failed to exploit when they were in our favour in the first half. Rovers, obviously more familiar with the pitch, capitalised in the second half after we'd taken the lead, both their goals coming from set pieces.
I agree that they weren't a great side, resorting too readily to fouls when things didn't go their way, and I expect us to achieve a better result when we return for the league fixture on Boxing Day.

I've seen conflicting reports on who was booked. All seem to agree that Kenny was booked, but some say Easty was booked, some say Donovan was booked and some say that both Easty and Donovan were booked?

Donovan was definitely booked and that was laughable. Not retreating 10 yards for a free kick which the ref hadn’t marked out. Pen was stonewall yet the ref still had to think about it. He gave us nothing all game and let some blatant fouls go from both sides. A really odd performance. We were poor but then again I think we have been for the past 4 or 5 games. We’re creating very little in the last few games which is a tad worrying. Rovers were poor but we were worse. That’s the loudest home crowd I’ve heard all season

We wre second best yesterday. We should have used the wind better in the first half and in the second should have changed style of play to allow for the conditions ( wind against us) Bristol were better in the second half they passed the ball more than we did. Should have been a diffenate red card for the stamping.( Bennett at Rochdale)will have to up our game as it seems we are not up to our usual standard over the past few games.

Well at least that tedious throw in routine worked for the goal whereas for most of time we could have just thrown it to an opposition player to save time. After the goal hoofball broke out big time and we never looked anywhere near our first half performance. We just do not looked composed on the ball at times and there seems to be an unwritten rule that when in trouble just boot it long rather than trying to find a teammate. At least if the long balls were a bit more accurate we might all find it a bit less of a dull watch. At the moment, although we've won a few we seem to be watching the other sides keeping the ball for long periods. To me that what makes the game seem uniteresting or whatever alternative description you wish to use.

I wouldn't be too hard on the team. We're now experiencing the pinch that can come with having a small squad. There have been a lot of games lately (with two more to come in the next week) and we have several players out injured.
Of course it was disappointing not to win yesterday, but a benefit of losing rather than drawing is that we don't have a midweek replay to contend with on the 14th. The week's break before Harrogate at home on the 18th should help to get the squad back in shape.

I agree with amberaleman. There have/are injuries in the squad and this has not helped. I hope I am not out of order when I ask . Are there more tactics we can use than using the throw in tactics and using Omar as the target man we are using now. It seems that other clubs are well aware of what we are doing. Have just seen joey Barton's interview He had some good words about the club and team. Looking forward to going to my second home ( Wales ) Tuesday hopefully getting a fair result!!

We have done it that way re. throw ins since time began. Work the line, no risk. Think we could certainly look for feet more in the final third, when we changed it up we were able to cross quite easily. Think we’re at our best when we can work a switch and get the wide men a bit of space. Conditions to an extent have had an impact as well. Tuesday looks like a tough game at a tough time, hope we can dig in as we normally do.

It seems that other clubs are well aware of what we are doing. Not out of order at all! Like you, I sometimes feel that we resort to the same ‘hoof up the pitch’ tactics too often, but we can, and now and again do, bring the ball into midfield before launching a wing-back / wide man assault on the oppo. This tends to work best on our right hand side - hence David A being double-marked. Every League Two club knows how each other will operate, but it is those that have several game plans, or exceptional ball players and thinkers, who edge it. However, despite of our ‘simpler’ tactics, we are doing quite well…

Finally highlights came up. Stupid penalty to concede at Rob’s experience, first to lose his man and than to come over him from behind though the danger was not imminent. About the tactics yes, more and more varied weapons are needed if we want to stay with the top pack. But this depends also on the players we have and, according at least to FIFA 22 evaluations, we are at the very bottom of the league. And the injuries certainly don’t help with that.
