Never a red card, surely it will be overturned?

Even at 0-2 up, down to ten I knew the second half would be hard with the players available.
But to concede an injury time penalty... Gutting, would have taken a draw.

Really gutted we could not hold on at the end, but no criticism at all to the team, they fought like lions until the end with a makeshift team. I can see no way that was a red card, on a wet surface, no studs showing, no real pace or malice in the challenge and Eastie clearly won the ball, and the follow through was almost in slow motion, a ridiculous decision, that cost us the game.

Not making the third substitution in a game like this in which you desperately needed to waste time is an amateur mistake. And the statistic is terrible agains us (30-4 shots, 75-25% possession). If you don’t hold the ball at all for long periods goals will eventually come even by chance , as for their second.

We had Dundas, Korboa and Sho Silva on the bench left. In a game where Omar had to play as an emergency centre back and Enzio as a right back this would have totally failed to work. I'm not going to hear a bad word said about any of the players or management out there tonight. The shift they put on was immense in awful conditions which includes an incompetent ref who gave the worst red card I've seen in years and with a totally depleted squad. I include in that Will Randall who for a small section of the crowd is becoming a scapegoat. He ran his socks off all night. But we let in a wonder goal and a total freak deflection. As for the penalty, I don't know if it was for a foul or handball but really didn't do justice for a game where we could have come away with 3 points. The result may be gutting but the entire squad should take great heart in what really was a superb performance in the circumstances and a huge improvement on Saturday. I really hope we can get together a team that isn't totally knackered for our trip to Valley Parade, but I'm confident that whoever plays will be giving it their all.

Another game played in difficult conditions, and it was a shame that David Ajiboye's superb goals ended up counting for so little. The red card for Craig Eastmond looked a poor decision by referee Mr Langford: Craig was second favourite to win the ball and did stretch for it with his studs up, but crucially he won the ball and his lunge was not in the direction of the opponent, who was approaching from an angle.
Newport played some nice football and had the lion's share of possession but were quite wasteful with it. They got back on level terms in the second half but then seemed to run out of ideas until a penalty in stoppage time won them the three points.
Despite the defeat, we stay 6th.
The worry for Saturday is that our squad is now down to the bare bones. Tanto and Louis were both missing today, Kenny limped off, while Donovan and Ben G both took knocks during the game.

Referee has won them the game. We were actually a lot more solid and better defensively 2nd half with 10. Their first was a great goal, 2nd a mishit, injury time pen a huge blow. Shame those 2 special goals from Ajiboye lead to 0 points. Hope we can get some players back in for Sat.

I was there in the away stand tonight. Grateful that Newport reallocated us from an uncovered area of seats to a covered area as the rain kept returning over and over again. As already mentioned, I too do not enjoy hearing individual SUFC players being singled out for criticism, as Will Randall was tonight by one or two somewhere behind me. Playing conditions were dreadful and it was necessary for certain players to play out out of position. They played their socks off for much of the match as Eastys' sending off was very early on in proceedings.

Look, no disrespect intended here. We are outperforming ourselves here by a distance. 32 points and 6th place are way above anyone’s expectations. The team is decimated. We only had one valid CB and one valid CM for tonight’s game. The referees seem to me to go against us at every game and to wait for their chance to hit as it was for Eastmond’s challenge tonight. (The penalty was given for a continued push of Boldewijn on his man, who fell, and even this seems a decision that could have gone either way as you see these kind of fights and pushings often in the game). The players fought their hearts and soul yesterday there and for this they would not have deserved to came empty handed. But… Please review the last five minutes before the penalty for me (I just did as I write this). Would you not want to have the game flow interrupted for 45 seconds, their players frustrated, ours getting a bit of oxigen after the effort put in?? This is coaching 101, really! As is that you take out an offensive player - Ajiboye or Randall for Korboa, doesn’t matter, as there is only the extension time left and all you hope is to run away with the draw. That said, the coach to has performed miracles so far with what he has. But does this mean we are not allowed anymore to observe an obvious error? This is a move that would have been made by 95 out of 100 coaches in England and 100/100 in Europe! Not making the third substitution in a game like this in which you desperately needed to waste time is an amateur mistake. And the statistic is terrible agains us (30-4 shots, 75-25% possession). Just seen the highlights, that red card was excuse my language but absolute bullshit. If that sort of challenge is a red card now we might as well pack up the game and not bother anymore, absolute farce! 🤬

If that sort of challenge is a red card now we might as well pack up the game and not bother anymore, absolute farce! 🤬 This is what I said when I saw it first, too. Try it in slow motion though (settings - playback speed - 0.25 on YouTube ). At the very end of the contact he raises his foot and makes direct contact with the other guy’s knee. This is enough excuse for the ref to make his call. If he gave an yellow there would not have been probably any comments from Newport side but... it is what it is. And our experienced players should refrain from giving the ref (s) this kind of chances to punish us (as per Milsom or Boldewijn too).

Was gutted down under this morning - followed the whole of the 2nd half.
But trying hard to be objective - can see why the red was given even if there are arguments for a yellow (Wet pitch/no malice). It was studs up - and there was dangerous contact.
