Rather than blame the ref. I'd have a go at your player. He lifted is boot high in the air all studs showing. A stupid tackle. As for the penalty I think handball would have been given if the push wasn't. Barely in the air. Come on now, his foot lifted a bit yes but he got the ball then the Newport player ran into him.
Might as well make it a non contact sport now and be done with it. They go on about these high challenges etc and how they are preventing injuries. Back in the 90s players used to go in hard etc and you didn't used to see 40 guys limping around with broken legs ffs. I wasn't at the match but have watched the highlights several times and this is the key point. My initial reaction was "surely this isn't the red card incident?". It wasn't a tackle nor was it a "challenge" as the commentator described. Easty went for the ball then their player arrived on the scene a split second (if not longer) later.

To me, watching it again, I still find it difficult to see it as a red card. Eastmond clearly went for the ball and as bucks and boomboom have said, the Newport player went into him significantly afterwards. Seeing how much Eastmond slid across the pitch too showed that the surface probably did as much to cause the red card.

Which means it should have in fact been a free kick to us as their player was late. I've asked some independent football fans to look at it and 100% say it wasn't a red and some don't think it's a foul. Even Newport fans are saying it's not a red. The guy running the Newport Twitter feed needs to give his head a wobble though and our Twitter feed wasn't much better. Dangerous tackle it was not. The guy theatrically fell over Easty's leg when Easty had almost come to a stop. Studs weren't pointing at the player either. A joke of a decision from a joke of a ref. Wilson was manhandled the whole of the first half with the ref giving absolutely nothing. That was the worst performance I've seen by a ref for quite some time. The lads were absolutely superb against all the odds. Just hope we have a team for Saturday!

And allowed too many subs in the Exeter v Bradford FA Cup game, causing a replay. Oh, Sam was the 4th official on Tuesday.

Question. If the club appeals Easties red card. When will this take place?

Question. If the club appeals Easties red card. When will this take place? Depends when (presuming they do) they appeal it. They would have to appeal it by the end of today I believe.

And if the club appeals the red card and it is NOT rescinded, is there any danger that a harsher penalty be further imposed (than that which applies at the moment)? If not, then why would the club not appeal? We all believe that the red was unjustified and right now, with our depleted squad, we need every possible player available!

There is a danger that an extra game could be added to the suspension if the appeals board view there were no grounds for appeal, defined as a "frivolous appeal". If the panel think there are grounds for appeal, even if the appeal isn't successful, the ban will remain for 3 games. The FA used to have updated information on players and reasons for dismissal etc, but they don't any more. I expect the panel will have to conclude that the ref judgement would have been serious foul play and the then will see if there were reasons that wasn't the case. Whilst looking at the November charges, the 2nd one on this page makes interesting reading. www.thefa.com/news/2021/dec/07/fa-charges---november-2021-071221 - a six game ban must have been something rather serious.

No chance of overturning, they’ll back the ref. Presume that is 3 match ban as well. Not going to help very much! The pen is a shambles. The guy isn’t even getting the loose ball. A gift. Why do you think there is no chance of it being overturned?

Just seen the highlights, that red card was excuse my language but absolute bullshit. If that sort of challenge is a red card now we might as well pack up the game and not bother anymore, absolute farce! 🤬 This is what I said when I saw it first, too. Try it in slow motion though (settings - playback speed - 0.25 on YouTube ). At the very end of the contact he raises his foot and makes direct contact with the other guy’s knee. This is enough excuse for the ref to make his call. If he gave an yellow there would not have been probably any comments from Newport side but... it is what it is. And our experienced players should refrain from giving the ref (s) this kind of chances to punish us (as per Milsom or Boldewijn too). I'm sorry but it was a red card. The Sutton player appeared to lift his leg and deliberately racked the County player. We had about 5 sendings off last year and that was worse than 4 of those. I think any appeal will fail and as some of correspondents say you could get a worse penalty. I think we may have won anyway if Sutton had 11 players such was the dominance. But Sutton have done brilliantly, I bet you didn't expect to be nearly safe from relegation in early December!

He seemed to stick is leg out to catch the County player. He might not have done but that's how it looked. None of the Newport Fans I've spoken to it thought it wasn't a red. as they said on Quest maybe unfortunate but under the rules it is a red.

More relevant to Bennett’s earlier in the season (for far less)!
