No chance of overturning, they’ll back the ref. Presume that is 3 match ban as well. Not going to help very much!
The pen is a shambles. The guy isn’t even getting the loose ball. A gift.

First of all.well done to the 90 supporters who went down to Newport last night. Were we again playing against 12 players as it seemed the ref gave very little to us. Were the Newport defenders Newport Dragons Rugby players as they seem to keep pulling our players down as Rugby tackles. Two great goals from David. As said in earlier post must have added an extra 0 on his value. Must agree the team worked their socks off again and must be truly gutted at the out come. Have had a look at the hi lights. Possible strong case for both red card and penalty. It will be interesting what the team line up will be Saturday.

The opposing player was some 3 feet away when Craig won the ball so after that it was a coming together. He didn't actually tackle the opposing player as such. More of a slide on the wet grass and an accidental collision. Is that a red card ? Will have to wait and see if Sutton appeal it.

I think they can make enough of it to back the red card. Say his foot was high and therefore dangerous. Common sense, conditions, intent and the fact there was no real force will be ignored in my opinion. I don’t think it will be clear enough for them to decisively rule in our favour. To be clear I personally don’t think it’s anything like a red card and I thought that live, not even sure it’s a foul.

David Ajiboye is now our leading goalscorer this season with 6. Not bad for a winger.

Just seen the highlights, that red card was excuse my language but absolute bullshit. If that sort of challenge is a red card now we might as well pack up the game and not bother anymore, absolute farce! 🤬

Rather than blame the ref. I'd have a go at your player. He lifted is boot high in the air all studs showing. A stupid tackle.
As for the penalty I think handball would have been given if the push wasn't.

There was no tackle .just an accidental collision after the ball had gone.

Another defeat out west and this one as hard to take as any. FGR, Cardiff, Exeter, Bristol and now Newport. Not been a happy hunting ground.
Last night the lads deserved the point they looked to have secured until another soft pen took it away. Not going to blame Enzio. Let's face it it was a forward's challenge and we had an attacking winger playing at right back. We also finished with a c-f at c-b and two of our normal full-backs in central midfield. Yet Newport, up against ten men for an hour, had to rely on a late infringement to take the win. That was down to a solid shape hard work and serious committment from the depleted U's ranks. Newport didn't deserve it, they know it and as for their official Twitter account, more later.
David A ripped them a new one (twice) with two stunning goals and while their first was a great strike, their second was a mis-hit by their no 10. The worst player on the pitch he spent most of the match moaning at the ref or getting involved with U's players. Just before Easty'y red card he raised his hands against, I think, Rob M, in an off the ball incident right in front of the lino who ignored it. It wasn't the first time he had got involved. But that's fine, he was a home player. Easty not so lucky. There was nought malicious about it but his momentum and a raised foot was enough to convince the ref. Of course, their guy rolling over multiple times, generally a sign that the injury isn't that bad (and so it proved) also aided to the moment. As I stated after Saturday go down, stay down give the ref something to think about. The challenge on Tanto was an attempt to hurt not play the ball but such is the state of our referees the Bristol guy gets a yellow, Easty, red. I doubt any appeal will be successful.
So to the official Newport twitter account. Their media muppet described Easty's challenge as a "vicious two-footed tackle". If there is no retraction I reckon Easty has a serious case for libel. What an appalling statement. Nowhere near close to actually what happened. Later, "another Sutton player goes down supposedly injured". Outrageous. Shame on Newport County FC if no apology is forthcoming. I have never been a great lover of their fans following one particular trip to the old athletic's stadium and after yesterday evening, bugger all has changed. Shame, because, like The Memorial Ground I quite liked Rodney Parade and their stewards were decent too.
So, nothing but two glorious goals and two more to add to the growing unavailable list from last night's excellent efforts from the squad.
And to the fella elsewhere on this thread making noises about the possession, shots, etc then you really don't have a clue of what position the team found in itself last night and unlikely to have been one of the hardy 90 to actually have been there. This obsession for match stats is bizarre. So, do belt up.
Bradford away. A huge home crowd so I won't be expecting too much out of the officials if recent events are to go by. Let's hope we can get eleven on the pitch. Dundo in goal?

I have now had 24 hours to calm down. I genuinely thought that the standard of refereeing would improve as we moved up the leagues but no. Two terrible refereeing performances in the last week. Worryingly the ref last night officiates at Championship level.
In today’s world it seems that anyone can wrestle another player to the ground or pull their shirt with no penalty or in the case of Saturday lunge in and receive only a yellow card. Win the ball and collide with an opponent afterwards and you face a red card. The art of good defending is being seriously eroded. Football is significantly different from where it was 30 years ago and I will not be here in 30 years time when it will be a non contact sport with no headers.
I wonder what today’s officials would make of the wonderful Bobby Moore in the 1970 World Cup against Brazil? I suggest he would not have seen the game out. Then again no rolling around by the Brazilian players might have saved him.

As for the penalty I think handball would have been given if the push wasn't. Barely in the air. Come on now, his foot lifted a bit yes but he got the ball then the Newport player ran into him. Might as well make it a non contact sport now and be done with it. They go on about these high challenges etc and how they are preventing injuries. Back in the 90s players used to go in hard etc and you didn't used to see 40 guys limping around with broken legs ffs.

To make any tackle your leading foot (or both feet) must be in the air otherwise the laws of physics make it impossible to move other than swivel on the spot. Studs are always showing unless you are in point position (as in ballet) which is unlikely. Your foot may of course meet the ground as you get to the ball but dependent upon how hard it hits the ground could be classed as a stamp. The subjective parts here are height, timing and severity all in the hands of the officials and VAR of course.
