With matchday testing now dropped, I think we can assume that the game is going ahead tonight!
All of the Northern section matches are taking place this evening, plus one other of the southern (Charlton v MK Dons), but oddly enough we are the only match taking place at 7.45, all the other games kick off at 7pm.
Not a huge amount of guesswork needed to predict the team tonight as it's likely to be very similar to Saturday, although I expect a bit of rotation from the few we have available beyond the starting XI.
One league game tonight which won't directly affect our league position but does involve teams in the top half - FGR host Exeter.
Biggest thing tonight is going for that win, which will earn the club 40k in prize money to go with the 70k we've already got this season. Whatever ones thoughts are about the competition, no one could scoff at the prize money for a club of our size.

We have a home draw against a team at the wrong end of the table with a lot of dosh on the line - why do I have that uneasy feeling? I'm sure the management will not permit any complacency but Colchester will surely be bang up for it and despite what the bookies will say, our home advantage and respective league positions, this game feels 50:50 to me.

Probably because the scenario you described was exactly what happened in the last round against Stevenage!

This is the most excited I have been about the EFL Trophy in all its guises. It's a low bar mind.

Fantastic achievement to be through to the quarter finals of the EFL Trophy in our inaugural season in the EFL, although the commentators on the live feed kept insisting we are now through to the round of 16, which started to grate a little after the fifth repetition. Not sure if they know what day of the week it is today, if truth be told.

By the skin of our teeth - we gave up too much procession and we’re fortunate that it didn’t go to penalties. Bennett, Smith in particular ran out of legs - suspect they haven’t trained. Worryingly that Wilson went off with a knee injury. Could someone have a word with our great commentary team - we are now in the last 8 not the last 16 something they repeatedly said during the evening ie the quarter finals. Still beatable teams left in the draw and hopefully we will avoid the big hitting league 1 teams. I think it stops being regional now but I could be wrong.

Yes, the EFL Trophy stops being regional after the round of 16, so we could be drawn against any of the remaining sides now - I think the draw for the QF is on Talk Sport between 11:00am and 11:30am this Thursday.

Got to 6 and still called it the last 16!

Also through: Charlton, Hartlepool, Harrogate, Rotherham, Wigan. (Two round-of-sixteen games in the southern half still to be played.)

Sadly the commentary team got a lot of facts wrong last night which i found frustrating to listen to.
