On this day in 2011 the Isthmian championship is more or less wrapped up following a 2-1 win over Hastings United. Nearest challengers Bury Town would play on the next day needing a win to keep the title race alive.
Hastings goal that day was scored by a young loanee from Leyton Orient by the name of Harry Beautyman, I wonder what ever became of him?

And five years later we had one hand on the National League South title after a 2-0 win against closest rivals Ebbsfleet. Dan Fitchett became the first player since Danny Bolt to score 20 league goals in a season for us, and Bedsente Gomis, who had been sent off at Ebbsfleet earlier in the season, rather enjoyed his penalty in front of the Ebbsfleet fans.
In 1983 Micky Joyce scored a typical far post tap-in to give us a 1-0 win over Bishop's Stortford. Nothing too unusual about that in what was a routine end of the season game, except that it was his 50th goal in all competitions that season, the first time since Charlie Vaughan just after the Second World War* that a player had reached that tally.
*subject to correction by Mark as the programme at the time said 'believed to be the first time'.

Oh ye of little faith O’s 🤦♂️ It takes a decent team to appreciate class.

Of all our Surrey Senior Cup successes in the 1980s and 1990s, the one on 19 April 1995 was perhaps the most exciting, especially given the opposition. It was at Woking against Carshalton, just two days after we had earned a crucial 3-2 league win over them at Sutton, and when our former (and future) player Jimmy Dack put Carshalton ahead with just under twenty minutes to go it seemed as though this one would go their way, but Mark Watson bundled in an equaliser seven minutes from time and then, in stoppage time and with extra time beckoning, Dominic Feltham put is in front and Mark Watson headed a third to give us the cup for the second time in three years and the ninth time since 1980.

Fond memories. Loads of us behind the goal at the end we were attacking and we really went nuts with each of those late goals!

22 April 1999 and we won our fourth Isthmian championship, beating Aldershot 5-0 at Sutton to give us an unassailable lead at the top of the table. Exactly a year later a 1-0 home defeat by Morecambe left us on the brink of an immediate return to Isthmian ranks.

On this day three years ago we were all very worried about what the future held as it was confirmed Dos had left the club.

Very unusual to have a game on the same date two years running, but that's what happens when a Tuesday match has to be postponed so late in the season that the best option is to play on Thursday, and the following year happens to be a leap year. Three consecutive league titles were all won on different days of the week (2011 was technically won on a Sunday even though we didn't play that day).

On this day in 1979 goals from Bobby Southam and John Rains helped U's to a 2-1 defeat of Chieti Calcio to become the first and only English winners of the Anglo Italian Trophy (semi-pro).
