My opinion is that Dean is a great shot stopper but has tended to play no higher than this level despite the plaudits of Rafa Benitez. I think he also feels he is capable of playing outfield at this level. He takes all of our free kicks in our half and taunts the opposition by often being out of his goal. He is also two footed. He has been found out at Wealdstone, home to Bristol Rovers this season and again last night. He did also turn one of their players on the edge of the box last night and went on a run against Stevenage that went viiral.
I think I would prefer a keeper who is a little more subdued.
He is a bit of a loose cannon but what goalkeepers are not. I think what will determine if Dean is with us next season will be if his partner gets a contract renewal at Arsenal.

Yes Deano is a good keeper but I wish he would not " go walkabout" ( ausie lingo ) Around the pitch. There are times when I think he is far out of his area some player will kick a ball over him to an open goal. Several other supporters I have spoken to have the same feeling.

I was one of the first to criticize Deano at the start of the season, but that was for errors made on his goal line. I think going walk about is now a part of modern keeping, they act as the sweeper and as Deano does often sets up an attack. It is risky and looks horrible when it goes wrong, I would rather Deano reduce those mistakes and keep playing the same way rather than go back and sit on his line.

As in this case,at 1.09 minutes. Seriously Billy? You are really blaming Dean for that one?

Oh come on. All goalies make mistakes like all players do. It's just that if a goalie makes one it's usually costly.
We've had a few eccentric goalies.

You can stay that again, one in particular I recall but is making me hungry ☺️. Deano has plenty of credit in my book, I really like the support he gets from Sutton fans. Goalkeepers play under a magnifying glass, errors look bigger, they are in the frame that other players just aren't so much. Psychologically Goalkeepers go through alot, I remember Jim Leighton not being selected by Ferguson for an FA cup reply, it was a severe mental blow and he hasn't I believe spoken to Ferguson since. A clean sheet goaless draw on Saturday up in Hartlepool would cheer me up. Oh come on. All goalies make mistakes like all players do. It's just that if a goalie makes one it's usually costly. We've had a few eccentric goalies.
