As others have rightly noted, a great performance from a team in control, in third place and in form. What topped it all of was Academy player Kylian Kouassi making his Football League debut for us. When academy players are getting into the first team it is a sign of a club building for success in the future.

When academy players are getting into the first team it is a sign of a club building for success in the future. I was amazed how physically strong he looks for a nineteen year old. Many academy graduates look very slight and could blow over with a guest of wind- not Kylian. I think he could be an asset in the post Tanto era. Speaking of Tanto -it will be great to have him back for the run in - but in reality we’ve coped very well without him at times scoring for fun. I think we’ve had 14 different scorers in the league now.

Congratulations to Kylian on his debut. Wish him well for the future. It was mentioned around me yesterday that he has a similar physique to TANTO.

I'd almost compare him with Dundo!

I'd almost compare him with Dundo! I'm sure I heard the players have given Kylian a nickname along those lines.

What a great birthday. Three goals, three more points. First goals for the club for the hugely likeable, Enzio B and an EFL debut for Kylian Kouassi the first of the club's academy players to make that step. That's a wonderful afternoon.
There was another small piece of statistical history too as Joe Kizzi became the first Sutton full-back (actually playing as a full back not a wing back) to score in three successive matches for the club.
And a performance to befit such an occasion. Near perfect really. Kept the ball well, used it to good effect. Threatened repeatedly down each flank and through the middle. Defended brilliantly, those two last ditch blocks by Ben G were outstanding. The only downside was seeing Kenny D's early exit, hope he's ok. But even then that misfortune allowed Harry B to join the fray and he looked right on it; I am not sure he wasted a pass and added a nice bit of trickery late on too.
Another first was Omar B and Richie B as the forward pair and it worked well. Omar roaming and hunting down, Richie B winning the longer balls and setting up Enzio's second, a fine finish too. His first was another great f-k after Easty's persistence earned the f-k. The Rochdale 'keeper made a couple of fine saves but his decision to punch rather than catch allowed Joe K to find the corner from 18 yards to create a record.
According to the match stats Rochdale had 61% possession. Really? What did they do with it? They have some decent footballers and as at their place looked a threat when approaching the edge of the box, especially in the first half, but it fizzled out as U's defended well as a back five and as a team as a whole.
Thought the ref did well (although we seemed to cop a fair few head injuries during the match) but the worst performance of the afternoon came from his assistant in front of la curva. Looked to have missed two early offsides (struggled to keep up with play), a ball out of play that cost Rob M a yellow card and in the second half a clear use of the arm to control the ball by one of their defenders. Truly dreadful afternoon for him and for his toils he got the obligatory ear bashing.
A 124th birthday to remember. The Golden '60's, the '80's -I have often banged on about the 87/88 squad - which may have been eclipsed by the 2017/18 one. But after last season when everything the club had done in its history was topped you would have to argue that this group of players is the outstanding one in the club's long history. Can they make some more on Tuesday night? It will be very tough against the second placed side in League One but football is often difficult to predict, so all we can do as fans is enjoy the occasion in the knowledge that Matt, his management team and the players will give it their all.

I think you need a proofreader! Kouassi on in the eighteenth minute? Boldewijn’s first after interplay with Bennett? “Were” instead of “where”. If you’re going to do a blog it would help if you could spell and get your facts right.

Great result, and I'm especially chuffed to bits for Enzio to finally get off the mark.
6 more wins in our last 12 games I think will still give us a play off spot, but 8 out of the last 12 could well give us automatic. Especially as we've still yet got to play the current 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th placed sides. We may be sitting in 3rd at the moment, but we've got a tough ask, and even making it to the play off would be a huge achievement. At a glance, I'd suggest that Swindon, Tranmere, Newport and Northampton have slightly easier run ins than us, although it does look like FGR possibly have the easiest out of the lot.

Was working Saturday but bloody hell another convincing win. Love the fact a young lad made his debut too, I don't pretend to know anything about him so what kind of player is eh, a straight up Centre Forward?
