This Saturday we are at home to Rochdale who are in midtable 7 points clear of the relegation zone. Hopefully we can get through this game with 3 points and no injuries as we need our best team out at Wigan on Tuesday. Should be fired up after free pizza at Carshalton!!! Rochdale lie just above us in the form table but of course we have had a lot of draws just recently.

In addition to that, Rochdale's away form isn't very good with 2 wins in 10 (at Barrow and Scunthorpe) whilst of course we've not lost at home in the last 10, 6 of those have been wins with the other 4 being draws.
They also played midweek, whilst we had the rare luxury of not (bearing in mind the next crazy 3 weeks is really a godsend). Whilst I doubt very much that it will be a straightforward as last Saturday, I'm hoping on the clubs birthday we can carry on the momentum we've had in the last few weeks, where although we've not had a lot of the results going our way, we've been playing pretty well (especially against FGR for example).
FWP pages have us getting a 2-0 win.
It's quite a big weekend for other teams in the play off spots, with not only Mansfield playing Exeter tonight, but Northampton host Tranmere and Bristol Rovers visit Newport. If results go our way we could jump up to 3rd with a win, although a defeat could see us drop to 8th. That's how tight it is up there, and the size of movement you expect in a league in late August rather than the start of March!

I see that in the review on the club web-site it says that Kylian Kouassi has been recalled from his loan spell with Chesham. Might be unrelated - but tends to suggest that Tanto might be out for a while.

Regarding TANTO. In an earlier review Matt said TANTO was back in light training. Possible another two to three weeks??

Match preview from Off the Line website: Sutton United vs Rochdale Preview: Sutton United will hope they can cement their play-off spot as they welcome Rochdale to Gander Green Lane.
Sutton have lost one league game in their last 13 and that is the reason why they are sitting comfortably in fifth place. Last weekend, they ran out comfortable 4-1 winners over Scunthorpe thanks to goals from Rob Milsom, Will Randall and Joe Kizzi. Louis John was once again able to get a run out as was as Kenny Davis. Harry Beautyman also appeared, scoring at the wrong end, but his season has been interrupted by injury and hopefully he will get back to full fitness soon. Coby Rowe also got game time as he returns from injury as Matt Gray’s squad gets stronger as the season draws to a close.
Rochdale aren’t clear from relegation yet, but they managed to get a win last weekend against Northampton to put some daylight between themselves and the bottom two. Tahvon Campbell was brilliant last weekend, showing he can lead the line and finish brilliantly after making a comfortable step up from the National League. Max Taylor was missing in midweek meaning the back three had to be reshuffled with James Ball dropping into the back line. Up front, Danny Cashman has been away from the team since January with no reasoning behind it. They are clearly missing someone like him to play up front supporting Tahvon Campbell on the opposite side to Alex Newby.
Prediction: Sutton United 2-0 Rochdale Sutton will take all three points on home turf, quite comfortably here leaving Rochdale still looking over their shoulder at a potential and unthinkable relegation.
One to Watch: Will Randall-Hurren – Sutton midfielder Will Randall-Hurren scored a brace last weekend against Scunthorpe. He has had to play second fiddle for most the season with David Ajiboye and Enzio Boldewijn starting ahead of him, but he’s clearly proving his worth to Matt Gray.

A win will take us 3rd with Tranmere playing Northampton. Big game in the context of our season. Being 3rd at this stage would be a monumental effort, staying there given the tough run ahead will be tricky! Mansfield looking more and more likely to take 2nd spot given their trajectory (or even first!).

A win will take us 3rd with Tranmere playing Northampton on the proviso Newport don’t overturn our goal difference advantage. Big game in the context of the season. Being 3rd at this stage would be a monumental effort, staying there given the tough run ahead will be tricky! Mansfield looking more and more likely to take 2nd spot given their trajectory (or even first!). Looking at how some sides have strengthened in Jan, and the form of sides like Bristol Rovers, Exeter, Port Vale etc, it's going to be quite some feat to finish in the top seven. In that context, you'd probably look at today's match as a 'must win'. Personally I think there are at least 7 sides who will finish above us, but I've been wrong before (end of last season being a prime example). Hopefully we can go into the game with the right mentality and not thinking about Tuesday. I know which game I'd rather we won, but then momentum is always useful. The next few weeks will stretch our squad to the limit!

Omar and Richie starting up front. Think this is the first time that they have started together. Looks like both Tanto and Donovan are carrying injuries at the moment - further explains why Kylian has been recalled. Will on the bench - maybe being rested with Tuesday in mind?

Congratulations to Enzio.First 2 goals for the club First a well taken free kick. Second a well taken goal well laid on by Richie. The third by Joe another well taken goal. Was nice to see Richie and Omar up front. Must comment about the use of arms and elbows that was used by Rochdale ( NO 6 ) How the ref did not see anything amazes me. Another all round showing / performance of the team today. On to Tuesday and THE GAME we are all anticipating. After today hope there are no injury concerns I hope Kenny is not badly injured after only 10 minutes ( poss pulled muscle?? ) A good birthday present 3 points,3 goals and 3rd in the league.

Same winning margin as last Saturday, but a clean sheet this time. 🙂 Rochdale offered a bit more of a goal threat than Scunthorpe had, with Alex Newby something of a handful for our defence, but we've now scored five against them over two games. Our wingers were on fire, with Enzio scoring his first two goals for the club and David a continual thorn in the left side of their defence. And that's now two goals in three matches for Joe Kizzi.
Back up to third, and just the one defeat in our last sixteen league and Cup games. But we are about to embark on a testing run of fixtures.
