Will Wigan put out their academy team as in previous rounds or will they play their first team? As been reported they have lost a couple of players to injuries today. To all who are going up to Wigan on Tuesday have a good trip and will see you all up there.

1 match from wembley I suspect theyll play the strongest side they can. They've played Saturday Tuesday every week since Jan 15th, about 14 games in 7 weeks, so just how strong that is remains to be seen. Our lads will be so up for this, should be a good game.

If you look at their forum they are struggling for cover in some positions e.g right back. It looks as if they have a few injuries in other areas as well. The consensus seems to be that they will play players suspended from league games , minutes for players returning from lay offs and youngsters and other squad players needing game time…..a curates egg.

Just had a chat with Wigan fan for the podcast and he does wonder on strength of side they can justify putting out. They have a few games in hand to squeeze in and going for title. That said 3 suspended players including James McLean can play in this one. But have 6-7 injuries to content with.
He felt if they put strong side out it could be close but they should edge it, but if the kids then we would probably be too strong for them.
They won't underestimate us though and seem to be looking forward to our visit.
Edit - and mentioned an Away friendly pub being called "The Red Robin" I did express my thoughts it would be unlikely many would want to drink in there......(but a nice place apparently!)

On the subject of pre-match drinking, particularly if you are arriving by train, be sure to check out "Wigan Central" (www.wigancentral.bar) At any one time there are 7 real Ales, 4 craft ciders. And it could barely be closer when you arrive. Leave the station, turn left and proceed under the railway bridge, 60 seconds walk! (And I'm sure AA already has it flagged!)

A lot of focus on this thread on the team that Wigan will put out - but Matt has some difficult selection decisions to make as well. One of the most difficult might be whether to start with Enzio or Will as both are on terrific form at the moment.

Doesn’t have to necessarily choose between the 2 of course, in that there is room for both if he wants.

He could play 4-2-3-1 with Enzio in CAM and Will on the left as Richie and Omar seem to get in each others way a fair bit on Saturday, not necessarily a bad thing against Rochdale, but could be punished against better teams

One of them is usually paired with Tanto or Donny.

I’d be surprised if he changes the general set up he has used for every single game of his tenure (I think) to the one you suggest, especially in a game of such importance.

He picks players who fit into the system, rather than changing the system to fit the players. Even when we didn't have enough defenders against Newport earlier in the season, he pressed Omar as an emergency centre back rather than switching to a 3-5-2 (or in that case a 3-4-2 as Eastmond had already been sent off!) 1 game away from Wembley, 3rd in L2 and a National League title in less that 2 years suggests he's right!

Will R has to start if fit. Been so impressed with how he's improved his main weakness (beating his man on the outside). The better he gets at that, the more effective he'll be coming inside and shooting with his right, which we all know he's superb at. Could see Enzio getting a start (or off the bench) up top if we've only got Omar and Richie fit from our frontmen. Although he didn't show much there against Salford, but he should be brimming with confidence after two lovely finishes. As others have said, Matt's not about to change from a 4-4-2 now (probably even if it meant sticking Deano up top).

I'm thinking that Wil will play on the left with Omar and Wilson up front & hoping that Tanto is fit enough for the bench.
