With all the excitement of a Wembley final to look forward there are also some very important league matches to play. Tranmere Rovers being one of the biggest !
A lot will depend upon how many fit players we have available but we need to keep our league momentum going which is arguably our main priority. We have now slipped to 8th position just outside the play offs but from 2nd to 10th it is very tight.

A win here would be huge and really set us up for the run in. One game at a time and all that but you’d think we’ll stay in the mix to at least very close to the season end if we can win this one. That would be great for getting people in the ground and all the financial benefits of that, present and future. I think the team we had on Tuesday is still good enough for 3 points at home if we play well, though obviously it helps if we get an important player or 2 back - would also improve bench options too. Fingers crossed for good news on the injury front as for certain we’ll need bodies for the schedule ahead.

Looking forward to tomorrow's game. Hope the injury list has decreased and that we will have more to choose from. It will be another tough one but hopefully 3 points. And we can stay in the play off group.

Early this season, games involving Tranmere rarely yielded more than two goals. But their last four matches have produced eighteen goals (9F, 9A).
Their home form has been pretty solid, but their only away win in 2022 was 1-0 at Crawley on 22 January.
Their danger men now include midfielder Lewis Warrington, on loan from Everton, and striker Kane Hemmings, a transfer window signing from Burton Albion.
Fingers are absolutely crossed that some of our players return from injury tomorrow.

As a heads up to any Tranmere rovers fan reading this thread. It is forecast to be very sunny here tomorrow. For those of you sitting in the new stand behind the goal the sun will be shining in your eyes, recommend bring sunglasses on something to shade your eyes.

From the form guide, neither of us are in the form we were in previous weeks, but any team who ended Mansfield's unbeaten run is one not to underestimate. Their away form is currently only beaten in terms of poor form by Scunthorpe, and have lost the last 4 (at Walsall, Newport, Nothampton and Hartlepool). Like us, it's their home form that have got them in contention.
FWP predicts a 1-0 to Sutton, but I think the algorithm doesn't take into account our injury situation. I expect at least one player to be back compared to Tuesday, but I still think there will be very limited options for Matt on the bench to freshen the game up in the final third.

Preview from Off the Line:
Sutton United vs Tranmere Rovers
Two sides that are in the mix for promotion meet off at Gander Green Lane as Sutton United play hosts to Tranmere Rovers.
Sutton have dropped out of the play-offs and are now three points behind as their season seems to be fizzling out. In midweek they had so many players missing and it cost them three points against Swindon in midweek. They had Omar Buigiel playing in centre midfield who is an out and out striker while he had Adam Lovatt alongside him who was starting his first EFL game. They could only name four substitutes in midweek and even lost starting goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis in the warmup last weekend. They are clearly a weaker team without Louis John and Craig Eastmond, John in particular is key with Sutton only picking up seven points in eight games without him.
Tranmere ended a run of five games without a win last Friday night showing a real drive and togetherness to come back in the 95th minute especially after conceding in the 91st minute. In midweek they were fairly fortunate after winning against ten men. Harrogate had a man sent off with what appeared the referee not knowing he’d already booked Luke Armstrong before his second yellow and subsequent red card. Tranmere were given disappointing news this week with Paul Glatzel ruled out for the rest of the season. Elliott Nevitt changed the game when he came on against Mansfield and played ninety minutes in midweek having come off the bench to make a difference.
Prediction: Sutton United 0-2 Tranmere Rovers Tranmere will get a third straight win in a row. They will capitalise on Sutton’s depleted squad and edge out their opponents.
One to Watch: Lewis Warrington – Tranmere midfielder Lewis Warrington is on loan from Everton. He has been excellent since arriving in January and got his first goal since joining.

Tranmere have their own 40 year old in the name of Peter Clarke, their centre half and captain. He was magnificent for my team Huddersfield between 2009-2014. He’s a proper leader, a true captain and an absolute credit to himself and the game. It’s no surprise to me that he’s still going, barely missing a game, and still scoring now and again.
I’m looking forward to watching him again. I hope he has a great game but finishing on the losing side with a debut league goal from Craig Dundas!

Not a good sign on the injuries front today. Contractors on site fitting handrails in the players tunnel.🤣

2 Things : -
Unless he's moved home since 2019, he'll be coming to the VBS from the Luton area
2) He was referee when we won at Tranmere earlier in the Season
