Well that was a long day. Finally home at 2.50am after the worst train journey home I can remember. On the pitch we weren't at the races especially the first half with so many misplaced passes, Ben Wyatt (who has been exceptional whenever required) being guilty of several overhit balls. Probably not as bad as Walsall but close. The form of David is worrying and he must now be a doubt to be in the starting line up on Sunday. I would prefer Will and Enzio on current form if fit. Easty really should have done better in the second half with his effort. We didn't work their keeper at all. I thought Vale were ok but not as good as when we played them at our place. Great atmosphere by their fans but the stewards! I suspect they have a massive drug problem at the club (maybe the supporters survey was aimed at a club like Vale). It felt like there were more stewards than fans. Every time you'd go to the loo a steward would follow you in and wash their hands. It happened to me twice and another supporter twice. Very odd! Didn’t think of it at the time but being asked to empty our pockets on entry, being frisk searched and stewards constantly checking the toilet cubicles would suggest you are right.

Funniest side of the search - Frakey being asked what was in his money pouch - his reply ‘er money’. They still looked, and guess what, only found money.

They told me they were searching for flares. I suggested that taking everything out our pockets was a bit over the top. What next a full body search!!!

From my own personal opinion, the stewards were very friendly, and happy to chat to me before the game. I didn't mind turning out my pockets before going in. Nice stadium and a really good atmosphere created by the home fans. Just a shame we didn't perform, some of the approach play was ok, just didn't have our finishing boots on. Yet again we see a referee who made some very strange decisions for both sides, kind of getting used to having poor referees most weeks. Oh well, onto the next game, a fairly big one, see you at Wembley

I thought it was weird when I was asked to remove my keys from my bag so they could be examined. Don't mind if it's to keep everyone safe, just felt that was odd.

My friend said the same and had his wallet check which I think is actually illegal unless someone is being interogated in a crime investigation. Like you say, no one wants to make a fuss as it's for a worth while cause, but still a bit cheeky.

Port Vale fan here. The stewards can be a bit thorough and persistent, shall we say. A friend of mine (OAP) has also been searched and questioned about his need for his inhaler! You are not alone. From a home point of view I thought it was a well deserved victory and a magnificent second goal, worthy of winning any game. Your lads fought hard and kept going until the end when they might have thrown in the towel in view of next weekend. Credit for that and their never say die attitude. Your style of play is very effective at this level and clearly causes teams lots of problems. I thought, today, unlike at your place, we coped with high balls into our box and competed much better. Like you, we have 4-5 players out injured, captain included (for the whole season), but have a bigger budget & squad and can manage it more easily. I think you are having a magnificent season and done superbly well to date. You all must be on Cloud Nine. With my daughter living in Walton you will get my 100% support next week, when hopefully a win can put the icing on the cake. Enjoy.
