Any advice about parking or parking at a distance where public transport can be used for the last leg. I am totally ignorant about the relevant geography and travelling from a significant distance.

Any advice about parking or parking at a distance where public transport can be used for the last leg. I am totally ignorant about the relevant geography and travelling from a significant distance. Any sort of parking nearby will be hugely limited to a few rather expensive parking bays if you can find any. The nearest car park is about 30min walk away in the centre of Wimbledon. Oddly enough potentially your best bet could be parking near GGL and then getting a train directly from West Sutton to Haydons Road, which is about a 10min journey, followed by a 10 or so min walk. Trains leave West Sutton at 22 and 52 min past the hour, and the return from Haydons Road coincidentally leave at the same times. The 493 bus goes outside the ground too (Richmond - Tooting) but I can well imagine that traffic on a Saturday afternoon in that area (bearing in mind there is a retail park opposite) isn't going to condusive to a fast route by bus.

Bear in mind that the away end at Wimbledon is on the north side of the ground, and visiting supporters travelling by train are encouraged to use Earlsfield station. That opens up plenty of possibilities for those making the first part of the journey by car; park near (for example) Walton-on-Thames or Esher station and you can then be at Earlsfield in under 30 minutes. The ground is then a 15-20 minute walk (or there are buses that take you most of the way down Garratt Lane).

Whilst away fans maybe encouraged to use Earlsfield, why would Sutton fans do so when Haydons Road is on the route that any West Sutton train going via Wimbledon goes through?
Assuming of course there is no rail strike that day.

Assuming of course there is no rail strike that day. Indeed, why go round the houses when it’s such a short journey from Sutton and an even shorter one from Morden South for anyone who uses the 93 route. JUST FLASHED UP !!! Rail strike by everyone on 8th October 🤦♂️🙆🏼♂️🙇♂️😳

A train strike is going to happen according to my ex colleagues on the railway. Personally, I will get the 93 to South Wimbledon, walk to The Sultan for a swift one before walking 30 mins or so to Plough Lane. Could take the 93 to Wimbledon, then a bus down Queens road, (200?) to Haydons Road station.
From the TFL Journey Planner, (fastest way they claim, I am not so sure))
Depart:Crown Road - Boarding at Stop Y 280 bus to Tooting Station Journey time:32 min Step 2 Depart:Tooting Rail Station - Boarding at Stop TD 77 bus to Huntspill Street Journey time:12 min View stops Step 3 Depart:Huntspill Street Walk to Cherry Red stadium
Journey time:7 min View directions Arrive atSummerstown at 14:16Summerstown

Thanks everyone for the myriad of advice - I shall ponder my options. It seems I should be ok buying a ticket on Saturday judging by the postings.

I will be selling tickets from 5-7 from the club Shop. After large sales figures this morning, in all possibility they may well sell out! It will be better if fans can attend in person, as the phone will only be answered during "quiet" periods. Mark.T.
