Game changer Wilson but for the wrong reason. In control until the sending off. Time for Kendall to step up to the plate and a possible silver lining?

Yes up until the sending off we were in control and looked the most likely to score a 2nd, but the Wilson moment changed the game, and we were turned over in the final 20mins.
Its really disappointing losing a match we should have won, and here is where 'OS' gets himself into trouble again. Wilson will presumably now miss the next 3 matches which will mean maybe Kouassi will come in, he can score goals, unlike Wilson who has gone, I think 10 matches without netting. Today the frustration probably told on him if he reacted, and maybe a period on the sidelines will do him some good, and maybe he will find his shooting boots again.
A forced change maybe, but also a good one as far as I am concerned...

All the league games we've played this season have been tight affairs, all but one drawn or settled by the odd goal. Before today we'd won four at home and drawn the other, so perhaps we were due a defeat. Salford were not the best side we've played recently, but today they took enough of their chances when on top while we didn't.
Up until the sending-off we were the better team (though not by very much), and arguably should have been more than 1-0 ahead (that thanks to Josh) when Donovan Wilson saw red after an assistant referee flagged. It's debatable how much the dismissal contributed to the defeat, as Donovan is not noted for his defensive duties. Whatever, they scored twice in the last eleven minutes of the ninety and we couldn't grab an equaliser in stoppage time.
So that's W4D2L4 in the league, and we're 13th. Things could be worse.

I waited a bit before even looking at the forum tonight for the fear that there will be a minority who come across as pleased that Donovan got sent off as it means he misses 3 games. Sadly that seems to be the case. If there is anyone getting pleasure at seeing one of our own players sent off, I find that pretty disgusting.
There were moments in the first half that were some of the best I've seen from us this season. One move involved 4/5 players and it was peerless and wouldn't look out of place in the Premier League, to which some of our fans sang "its just like watching Brazil".
I may be in a minority myself here, but I don't think the sending off was a game changer. I felt we switched off a bit, and I also felt it had nothing to do with the 2 goals we conceded. From when I was standing right behind the goal, it seemed like our defence switched off, in a similar way they did on Tuesday.
Salford I thought were probably better than we made them look in the first half. I'm taking consolation that if they are one of the better teams in the league, we really could be in with a shout of a play off spot if we try not to press the self destruct button, which in a number of different ways we've done this season (see Crewe, Swindon and Doncaster for other examples).
Overall I think we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. I really hope Randall going off at half time was just a precaution.

In Matt's interview he mentioned the injury status of various players but no mention of Will. Does anyone know how he is after being subbed at half time.He was rubbing his thigh prior to half time.

I don't think the sending off should have changed the game but remember saying we were starting to drop too deep just before Salford equalised. Anyway i'm rather looking forward to seeing what Kendall can do over a whole 90 mins and whether he improves our team.

I think that Matt deserves better from some of our players than he has had up to now this season.

The sending-off gave Salford a lift and allowed them to take more possession. But the goals were soft. One weakness this season so far is that we are solid for most of the game then just give away a weak goal or two. I think maybe in this case the sending-off rattled us and made us lose composure.
Shame about Wilson, as despite not scoring as many as he should, he works hard off and on the ball with a good work rate. But with some good players knocking on the door for that position then I think he may well drop down the pecking order now.
As for Randel, It's odd we have heard nothing. I was suspicious it could have been a clash with Matt as he was shouting a lot of instructions at him, then again he does do that a lot anyway. Let's hope it was just a precautionary sub and nothing more...,

About the 3rd or 4th time already we've got nothing from a game we deserved at least a point from. We seem to be losing all the tight games this season. There's a hairs breadth between us and the sides that will go up this year. We won't be one of them. Are we losing the games due to concentration lapses or lack of squad depth? I'd say primarily the former, but the latter will be an important factor too.
My opinion is that we lack an organizer at the back. Note how few defensive bowlers we make when Ben goodliffe plays because he's a natural organizer with excellent concentration. Rowe and John are just as good if not better in most areas but neither are natural talkers, and both are prone to at least one big error per game.
John for example may have made a goal saving tackle but his missed clearance led directly to the chance (almost identical to Swindons Johnny Williams goal) and he seemed to switch off for Salfords winner too. The first goal came because Barden failed to pick up his man. A good organizer would have spotted this and moved Barden across.
Enzio must have heard me slagging him off because he had his best 45 mins in a Sutton shirt. Hard to judge ward on that display but his kicking was excellent. He had a great chance to equalize too. The corner came right to his head.
Anyone actually see what Wilson did?

Both Football Web Pages and the Football League Paper show the attendance as 4,404. It was of course 3,404. Not sure how the extra thousand crept in, but the lower figure is still impressive, our highest at home this season, swelled no doubt by fans of other London clubs not playing this weekend because of the international break. I'm sure that our treasurer will be pleased. 💷💷💷

The problem for me is we don’t score thee amount off goals that we create. How many times has Matt said in interviews that we should of scored more than we do, that means the opposition are still in the game. We then seam to drop to deep especially at the end off games and put pressure on too defend the games out. For me Though it’s about staying up this season which I think we will do comfortably.

It s worth noting that for all our the attacking endeavour and chances created in the frst half, we did not muster a shot on target! In fact apart from our goal plus the last minute effort from Kylian, we did not force their keeper into a save did we?
