5 defeats in a row doesn't look good. I really don't know what the problem is. Omar and Charlie really battled well. So did Tope when he came on. Are we just not getting past packed well organised defences and also there were at least 3 refereeing decisions that went against us and I'm not talking about the penalty. Why can't officials be consistent. A foul is a foul wherever it happens on the pitch. Maybe we need to be more flexible. Are we becoming too predictable? 4-4-2 doesn't seem to be working. I know we are stretched defensively but maybe 3 at the back with wing backs could work. Its down to the quality you have on the pitch and the system you play. I think you can answer the question, by asking do we have the quality available on the pitch to fit the current system? If not can we change the style of play to adapt? I generally think that this where you use your 'director of football' alongside the manager to come up with another plan to ultimately get points. IMO : I want to see Wilson play slightly withdrawn and get Kouassi up there with him, I am convinced Donovan can create for Kylian? All of Donovan’s creativity you’re talking about are from getting in behind or rolling someone out wide and cutting it back. He is a last man striker and your suggestion is basically taking away his key strength. I think I’ll leave Matt to come up with solutions. But actually what I think he’ll do is keep calm and carry on. This little run will turn at some point. You seem to have a bee in your bonnet about the DoF and quite misunderstand his role.

And you would be right too, Yes I have a bee in my bonnet about DoF's, especially at our level, but then you already know that.

I personally think that the reason we have been not winning at home is the fact that we keep kicking off towards GGL first. It always takes us 20 odd minutes to get going and that’s half the first half almost done with kicking towards our fans. I do believe that psychologically we would/do play better towards GGL and our fans in the 2nd half.

I imagine the reason we kick towards GGL in the first half (when we have the choice!) is that the sinking sun is more of a problem for the keeper facing into it in the second half. Not that this helped us much today.
Our luck is just desperate at the moment; having lost Jon Barden to a horrible injury on Tuesday, today we lose two centre backs in ten first-half minutes then see Will Randall forced off yet again. Joe Kizzi, within three minutes of moving across to cover at CB, concedes a penalty. The ref adds on four minutes at the end of the first half - and in the fifth we let in a second goal.
We didn't play too badly today, but bad luck in football has a habit of doubling down. Charley Kendall may still be a great player at this level, but he's not there yet; I'd expect to see Donovan Wilson straight back into the starting XI next Saturday.
That's now five straight defeats, three games without scoring, and nine players unfit to play. Are we yet at the bottom of the trough?

What i did witness yesterday was a more committed Charley Kendall. He is getting to understand the role more and what he is up against in League 2.He was pulled and dragged everywhere by Tranmere's defence and rarely did the ref give us some obvious free kicks. As AA says, Donovan will probably come in but can he score the goals we badly need.

Think Kendall did well yesterday other than hitting the target and going across the keeper with his chance. Definitely showed he has something about him. But agreed Donovan back in.

The 2nd goal killed the game. We played pretty well first half generally, Tranmere going in 2 up in no way reflected the game. But the chances we gave away - pen and 1v1 almost guaranteed goals at this level. We can’t afford to give cheap goals away when we are struggling to score the other end. Is that 4 clean sheets in a row for Tranmere, not just us that struggles to score against them and also see Stevenage again today - a home win and shut out vs Swindon. Positives - Lovatt looked good, Wilson is back next week. I’d say it’s doubtful John and Randall will be fit though. Randall probably needs an extended break to make sure he’s properly fit. Someone must have the stats for this. How many games has Will Randall been eligible to play for the club and since his arrival? How many games has he missed or come off early through injury in that time? Just interested to know.

Hmm not so sure - our victories this season against Barrow, Mansfield, Harrogate and Hartlepool have all come when we’ve been attacking the Collingwood Road End in the second half.

Wow, it really is all about you, isn't it? So because you personally don't need to benefit from the sort of support and awareness raising the club is quite rightly trying to do, you think we shouldn't have it. I'm all right, Jack!
You do realise, don't you, that none of it is actually happening during the match itself? So if you don't care about supporting those less privileged than yourself then why not just turn up just before KO, watch the game for 90 minutes where you will be untroubled by anyone rudely trying to help others at you, and then go away.

1 shot on target in 3 games, with 7 off target in each match. No mystery as to how we've lost 6-0 on aggregate in those 3 games.
Say what you will about the strengths and weaknesses of our forwards and the best system to play, but Omar and Wilson have played together enough to forge an understanding. All the other partnerships look like strangers to each other, because they are. Kendall offers plenty, he was hauled down by their oafish 26 who didn't stop fouling all day. On another occasion that is a freekick in a dangerous position and a yellow. He struck his chance well but ultimately didnt hit the target. Thomas wins a lot in the air but he doesn't suit our system. If we had the sort of wingers who get out wide and hit crosses it would be different, but our wingers cut inside or the crosses come deep from the FBs. In our system the target man needs to be mobile enough to put himself about, and Omar far better at this than Thomas or Kouassi.
Regardless of our awful luck, the second goal was attrocious from our perspective - a recurring theme this season. I thought Lovatt played well, but was highly disappointed with Josh. He messed up his touch in a good position early on and after that his head went down and Tranmere's excellent number 3 dominated him completely. He seems like a real confidence player.
Midfield is looking like a serious problem, as is central defence. never mind three at the back or in the middle, can we even field two? Easty looked knackered yesterday and will probably get his customary 5th yellow next weekend anyway, so we could be going into Walsall at home with Lovatt as the only available midfielder. Can we get an unattached player in on a short term contract? Anyone know how long Harry is out for?
Tough times indeed. If we can scrape 3 or 4 points from the next 3 games we should be very happy as it could get worse before it gets better.

I don't think it's too long after a hernia op - maybe a couple of weeks.
