3 .0 now, not a good day at the office. To many injuries and ones we went down too ten, the belief went. Just move on now and put this behind us because that’s all we can do. Think Matt won’t be happy with this performance though. ⚽️⚽️⚽️ Why would Matt be unhappy? We had 10 men for over 90 minutes of play. Not one player played badly.

Unfortunately there was only ever going to be one result today after Omar’s red. The heads went down and the work rate up top wasn’t enough. Sadly also think that it’s the first time Matt’s got it wrong tactically. Most teams would go to two tight banks of four, but his switch to have the two winger close to Donny left the full backs vulnerable, particularly with Donny unable to hold most balls up and it constantly coming back. With the only position that has back up being up top, would love to see Donny run himself into to ground for 60 and then tope/Kendall given the last 30 to keep it up. The lack of pressure on centre halves is making us too easy to play against. Donny’s goal on Tuesday shows the benefits of doing it

Going down to ten men in the third minute clearly inflicted major damage to our prospects in this game. I didn't have a clear view of the red card incident so can't say much, but comments I have seen and heard were that the punishment was harsh. Our 'lucky' referee Simon Mather wasn't so helpful today.
I don't agree that heads dropped after that, and I thought we made a decent fist of playing with ten men. Matt made several changes in the second half, and at one stage we were playing in an attacking 3-4-2 formation, though that was when Stockport took maximum advantage and scored their third.
Hugely disappointing, but not a disaster. Let's move on.

Surely Kouassi has to play today from the start, and if not from the start then 2 and half minutes in.
Kouassi / Wilson combination v Oxford caused them problems, and we win. Then against Northampton we come back to 2-2 because they can't cope with him.

I’m guessing, but I suspect that the club has never had an earlier sending-off than that. Is anybody aware of any similar instances? Of course, back in the good old amateur days, it was a heinous crime for a Sutton player to be sent off.

There was the time when we went through an entire Isthmian League season with only one booking (Mark/Tony - correct me if that number is wrong) but did not win the fair play award as Wycombe didn't receive a single caution.

Once again we have officials who have ruined the game. Should have been a yellow card for Omar. As it was.why was it not a red for the Stockport player who went over the top on Will two minutes earlier? Also why did the linesman ( yellow flag) Turn up.He gave absolutely nothing. Missed blatant offsides, the wrestling of no 6 against Donovan etc. If there is no appeal for Omar then is it a 3 match band as per Donovan. Kylian is a great replacement for Omar. Hope Matt and Jason can lift the squad for next week's cup game. ( IAN. hope the spelling is OK this week)

I half-expected Kylian to start yesterday after his barnstorming 45 minutes at Northampton. Maybe Matt prefers to use him as an impact player. He didn't actually have much impact yesterday but by the time he came on the game was effectively lost.
There's something of a contrast between our performance at Edgeley Park and Walsall's at GGL a week earlier. Both visiting sides had a man sent off in the first half-hour (though Walsall's red card wasn't nearly as early as ours). Walsall played ultra-defensively with ten men while the score was level (and achieved a draw) whereas we continued to attack and try to score (at least until Stockport got their third).

We played ultra defensively as well as you’d expect. We barely touched the ball.

I was up at 3.30am and left my house at 5am. I got home at around 10.30pm. I spent £90 in all and for what? A glorified training match (defence v attack).
Had Mather sent of their fella for a very nasty tackle on Will R and then sent Omar off maybe there wouldn't have been so much anger but he didn't. There was more intent by their fella than there was from Omar but Mather couldn't see that. How to be inconsistent over three minutes of a football match. There is no point reviewing anything else because it was boring from the third minute. What looked a decent contest on paper became a practice match all because of one or depending on your point of view, two poor decisions.
From their the ref and the lino (whose shaking of his head when he was called up by the fans for some dodgy offside calls just demonstrated the level of arrogance that some of these guys have) got absolute dogs abuse therafter. Some shocking language (guilty, don't care).
The ex-player on ITV needs another think after his comments too. I wonder how he would have reacted if it had been him on the end of the first challenge? What a twonk.
For a third consecutive Saturday the FLP gave the ref 4 or less for the Sutton match. I contested the first two on the grounds that U's goal against Dons was legitimate and the penalty was correct too because Coby was hauled down by an arm around the neck. Once again, even yesterday 4 is a harsh mark but in one action the ref ruined the match, so I suppose there is some strength of argument there.
I do have to question how refs are being guided these days. Last week the fella kicked Easty in the face resulting in him going off and missing the next match but that was only a second yellow. Omar gets a straight red going for the ball but catching the guy on the knee. He was stretching so I doubt there was much force. Their guy got up and later scored. So how is that right? You raise your boot as high as the Walsall fella did and kick an opponent in the face that's unlucky and thus a yellow, you go for a ball and catch an opponent on the knee that's a straight red. It's bollocks of course but its the modern day game and it is the fault of the powers that be as much as the refs themselves. The game has slowly become a contactless sport. You can't tackle with your foot anymore, even though the game is called "football", the clue is in the first syllable.
For those on here suggesting some players didn't put enough effort in, do behave. More bollocks from Amber Planet, there is plenty of it on here these days (perhaps this post adds to it).
I think that was the quickest yellow card I have ever seen in a Sutton match and while the red was the earliest I have seen a Sutton player dismissed, I think the Dover guy's red in the play-off s-f (ugh) was even earlier.
One other observation; our official twitter feed. Not sure who is doing it but would it be possible to stop acting like a robot and actually put some emotion into it? Not asking for biased comment but maybe "that looked harsh" or even "can't complain about that" would suggest some emotional attachment.
Oh, and BTW OS, you're still talking out of your backside if you can't work out how crucial Omar is to the team.
That's a truly effed off me, done. Bet you're all glad I bothered!

I think the Twitter feed is exactly how it should be - accurate match information. If people want to give an opinion etc, then add it to the relevant thread on this forum.

Since the next match is a cup tie there is a chance Brad House is already pencilled in for the GK jersey as he was for the PJT. A good show and he might be able to keep it until Rose returns or even after. I thought Rose began at Sutton looking nervous, punching balls which needed to be caught, however he improved considerably and now looks a good signing.
I don't like criticising individual players, but with goalkeepers there is no option. Ward is a liability, the table of results says so. Lack of trust in the keeper not spilling saves or letting in soft shots quickly affects the defence. That seems to me to have happened. House has looked more confident in his PJT matches at GGL.

Oh, and BTW OS, you're still talking out of your backside if you can't work out how crucial Omar is to the team. I love the way you move the goal posts slightly, did I ever say that Omar was not a crucial part of the team? Last Tuesday's match is a brilliant example of how Omar / Donny and Kylian are all important, its how you play them that matters. As for talking out of bum's anyone who cannot see that Kouassi wins the majority of headers, can hold the ball up and causes defences problems which gives both Omar and Donny a little more space must be blind.
