I know it's a little early but a massive match for us. Firstly what do we think of the chances of it going ahead on Saturday ? The chances are high. The temperature is set to be way above freezing on Saturday so there should be no issue with frost. In other good news that although there are train strikes on Saturday, the tube is going to be mostly unaffected (with the exception of a small part of the district and bakerloo lines, and reduced services on the Circle, Elizabeth and the London Overground). I've heard on the grapevine that the home tickets are sold out, so it's going to be a very intimidating atmosphere. Coming away from there with a point would be huge. Something only 2 sides have managed this season, and only one of them have come away with all 3 points (Newport, with a penalty). They've let in 4 goals at home this season, and have 8 clean sheets at home. I don't think it's a massive match for us, I think this is a bit of a free hit. If we come away with anything against the side who already look like (barring a big downturn in form) it will be a bonus. At least we won't end the day lower than 17th regardless of the result.

Agree, it's by a mile the least important of the 4 festive fixtures. I would take a hammering in this if it meant 7 points from the other 3. If we can beat Crawley and Gillingham it would require a major collapse for us to get dragged into the mire. If I was Matt I would not risk any players who weren't 100% fit. If we can somehow sneak a goal and get something to hold onto we could give them a game, but if they get their noses in front I would expect the customary spanking roared on by a veciferous home crowd.

I never expect to get much out of a trip to Orient at the best of times but unfortunately they are having a better season than we are so I'm not super optimistic. I like it that way sometimes though...better to be pleasantly surprised with a point or three than come away disappointed having expected more than we got.

Very few teams could travel to Orient, at the moment, in a spirit of expectation. Optimism, maybe. We do sometimes turn it on against the better teams. As others have said, it's best regarded as a free hit. We did the job against Colchester and got a decent point at Carlisle. Beating Crawley and Gillingham are the real tasks in hand.

Agree with all that's been written regards free-hit. pressure's off a bit, the kind of scenario where sometimes you grab the most unexpected of points.
looking forward to the day out either way - always had a decent Sutton sing song (echoes nicely in the big high stand!) at the O's and looks like a near sell out.
i've always had a beer in the o's supporters club but fancy a change - any recommended pubs nearby?

From what I've seen the temperature isn't due to go above freezing until around noon on Saturday with a high of 4 degrees around 2pm. However, this could all change and the warmer air could get to us sooner. Let's hope so (although sadly I can't make this game due to Dad's 91st birthday and my nephew's 4th birthday. Not sure who will enjoy it more!).

I still would call it a massive game, not in the terms of we must win. More in the terms of playing away to the division leaders in front of a full home support and a chance to see if we can now compete with the best. Matt says we fear no one and i can see where he is coming from. I think our biggest challenge as supporters is getting to Leyton although i'm thinking maybe the Northern line to Bank and a hop on to the Central line.

Actually it looks like tubes are pretty much running as normal so I don't think there's much of a challenge there, other than the fact they might be busier than usual due to 1) no mainline trains and 2) last Saturday before Christmas Eve.
Spare a thought for me, I've got to get to Doncaster afterwards ππ

Our chances have improved as apparently three of their squad, John, Bob and Paul King are in Bethlehem on a business trip.

Good that we have got our midfield back. But we are still a bit light at the back against a side that is on a great run. I would be delighted with a point, which we might get.

Hello all, Orient fan in peace. The form book makes it clear who the favourites are so we hope to keep hammering the chasing group with another 3 points, however, this is Orient, anything can happen and often does. We haven't showed signs of relaxing yet, Wellens drops anyone who looks like they're coasting but there are signs of us thinking we'll just go through the motions and win. Newport showed us up the last time we did that. We know that Sutton are a tough lot with plenty of energy and physical presence, plus 2 wins and a draw in the last 3 games means it will be tough, most FL2 games are it seems. I'm sure you have no need to look down the table, Gills (6 goals all season!!!!) and Col U have both lost 4 of their last 5 so they'll not catch you. We have a heated inflatable 'dome' over our playing surface plus we use a turf lighting system to keep the grass growing in winter and under the stadium overhangs (mostly paid for by Spurs women's team for whom Brisbane Road is their home ground). So we see no fear of not playing the game on Saturday, our main concern is to sand the walkways around the ground to stop some H&S bod from complaining about risks to the paying public. We have indeed sold out the stadium, the club has an auto system for re-selling season ticket spaces of people who declare they can't make the game, sadly these are mostly single seats so there will be a few gaps around but, as you folks said, it will be a practically full stadium although I don't know how many tickets Sutton have sold. You can see we've come a long way from when our previous owner deserted us and left us penniless and struggling in the National league without a bank account and a list of suppliers who wouldn't touch us until we paid all our debts to them. It brought home to us just how important it is to have good owners, life is sweet at the moment, long may that last. May the best team win [as long as it's Orient]. Good luck for the season.
