Ramsgate really offered very little, not sure how many shots they had apart from the goal and I would say they are a mid table side. Like Saturday we really should of put them to the sword but we lacked understanding and support up front for the first half and stood still like statues to allow them to score the easiest goal you are likely to see. We have to sort out the defence as they really worry me as always look likely to give something away and so far in every single game have done. Hopefully AJ back on Saturday should help and going forward Chukki is going to be key and the understanding will come. Its difficult to criticise a building before its finished so I won't, plenty of good aspects a bit of tinkering should put the problems right, but nothing too serious.

I agree this was a bit disappointing. Maybe the players need more time to familiarise themselves with their home ground! We started slowly and in the first half (apart from a Dean Palmer shot that their keeper turned over the bar) didn't really come alive until the last ten minutes. Ramsgate took the lead early in the second and it wasn't until the introduction of Adam Roberts that the tide turned back our way with Palmer heading the equaliser from a corner. Craig Dundas again laboured in vain up front. He was replaced by Chukki Eribenne who made little impact but I guess wasn't 100% fit having been out injured on Saturday. It's been over six months since the first team last won at GGL. Let's hope we don't have to wait too much longer for the next one.

Dissapointing result in the end... I thought that again we dominated the game without putting them to the sword like we should have done. I personally thought Heroo was poor, he dives in all over the pitch and gives the ball away time after time. Defensively we seem to do ok individually but as a unit they are not right yet. Up front Mcallum and Dundas didnt look like scoring, I would have liked PD to chuck West on for the last few minutes. It is still early days and we are still unbeaten so can take positives out of that... Personally looking forward to having Wilde back, pushing Davis into the middle where he is going to be so much more effective/inventive than Heroo. But for now, lets keep getting behind the lads and I am sure the wins will be just around the corner.

Hey, let's look on the bright side. We've got a point more than we had at this stage last season! ;D
We're still not fielding the fist choice XI. We're missing AJ and Wilde, plus Chukki and Macallum still don't look 100%. Yes, we hoped we'd hit the ground running, but it was exactly that. A hope.
I personally don't think we're going to have too many problems once we go ahead in games. Our difficulty is going to be in going behind (especially at home) and having to work twice as hard to peg it back.
Really don't think there's anything to be at all worried about just yet. After all, we won 5 games last season FFS!

I personally thought Heroo was poor, he dives in all over the pitch and gives the ball away time after time. Well, everyone sees it differently I guess. I thought that Heroo was excellent, particularly in the first half, snapping away, giving the opposition no time to settle on the ball, winning more than a fair share of tackles. I was surprised Craig Dundas came off. Although he didn't look like scoring (ok, a problem for a striker) he was winning the ball and holding it up well to play in others. Overall the game was just like Saturday. A bit of disorganisation in the back four giving away a goal and not being able to convert more than one of the hatful of chances that were created. I'd like to see a bit more accuracy in the crossing though.

Much the same thoughts as those not worrying. We look still look a bit too much like a collection of good players as opposed to a cohesive team but if we can pick up points when the players are still getting used to each other than we'll be flying when they've got some more games together under their belts. Another top cameo from Taz and Delando, Wildinho is still to come into the side after his injury and Chukki didn't look quite fit and i'm sure at 100% he'd have made a bigger difference tonight. I'm still optimistic for a very good season. As for the team getting used to the home ground, i can see certainly see that since i had to direct a couple of the boys home from West Sutton station and indeed also save Mr McCallum from running into the rather closed Victoria line on his way home. Hopefully in a few weeks they'll all know their way around the pitch as well as the way home Our lack of a win is getting the bobbins rather excited though but they would do well to remember what happened last time they got excited about being ahead of us in the Ryman Premier... *cough*six-nil*cough* Bring on Hendon

I'd go further than that.I thought Heroo was superb last night but was apalled by the defending for their goal and again soon afterwards. When they scored they had 5 players in the penalty box against our two defenders. Please, please dont play McKimm at right back as lets just say he has a lack of understanding of the position. We will score goals.Once the team know each other better we will score loads. Dover seem to have started their campaign strongly.

During the Game last night:
Ramsgate had 3 shots at goal, only one being on target (the goal)
Sutton in the end had around 15 in total, with around 6 being on target. One being the goal.

Plenty of promise, just failing with that final cutting edge pass that makes the difference between a half-chance and a chance.
Looking forward to getting AJ back to left-back and Jack over to his favoured right side. I think Davo will be much more influential in a central role - but with Wildinho out for a while by the looks of it we need a short-term solution which could be shifting Heeroo out to the left or starting Roberts??

Don't panic! The boys need time to gel and last night showed glimpses of what we can do when we do link up. I'm looking forward to seeing a first choice defence i.e. AJ back in there, which may mean Jack Smith (who was rightly given MOM last night) switching across to right back? Steve McKimm looked less lost than he did on Saturday, but we all know he's not a full-back and the same can be said for (Bo Selecta) Craig Davis who is also playing a cameo role, this time at wide left. Onwards and upwards.

A little frustrating last night, again like Saturday, dominating large parts of the game and failing to capitalise. The defence looked frail for their goal but overall performed well, as did the side.
Something that hasn't been mentioned is the standard of football we have seen in the opponents. Ramsgate, who made the play offs last year, were I think slightly more accomplished than Harlow, but its strikingly obviously to me that the standard of football we have seen so far in the league is significantly lower than we faced last year - i've seen nothing so far to suggest the standard is any higher than when we left the Ryman in 2004.
With us though, you just get that feeling that once we start winning its going to be difficult to stop. And again we are setting ourselves higher standards - last year we'd be over the moon for a draw, this year anything short of a win is disappointing.
We may struggle to get that win against a strong unbeaten Hendon on Saturday, but we then have a struggling Tooting on Monday....

As for 2 draws I think any disappointment is down to unrealistic hopes or just blind panic after last aseason TBH. The simple fact is that is 14 of the 16 players on duty last night have probably spent more time playing for opposition teams at GGL then they have for us, I have spent longer in the queue for tea. I have not done the calculations on just how long the same 11 players have been on the pitch together in our 2 competitive matches but its minutes not hours. When you look at it in the cold light of day we really should not even be drawing at this stage, but it shows how weak the standard is that we have seen so far. Bobbins have won 2 games on the spin and although they will be happy with that its just further evidence of the weak standard as they are basically playing half the side that got us relegated. We played Dover twice last year 2 very tight matches so its no surprise that they are top, the question is can the side we got now beat the side we had then and if so we will grab a playoff spot. The league is marathon not a sprint and we only need to be average till Xmas to be in a good position to kick on
