In the absence of Eastmond I would, for preference, play Lovatt in midfield. Especially as we lack Omar who is strong at tacking back. But I imagine it will be the Ali and Harry combo. Which seemed to work well enough in the last match, once we'd got to grips with Swindon's system.
Angol to start up front with Donny. That will be interesting and could work very well.

Two points off the play offs - the gap is closing.

Great result! Two good goals and good to see Coby Rowe get a goal after the long injury he had and Ajiboye enjoying his football again. So well done lads. “UP THE US”. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Enjoyable game overall. Must have been a great half time talk by Matt Gray because Doncaster looked threatening throughout the first half, but Sutton largely nullified them in the second. Fantastic block by Rowe (or was it a Rose save?) start of the second half. Two very good goals and I thought Wilson, Angol and Dennis looked decent up front today.
Interesting to see Danny Schofield and Ian Bennett on the touchline for Donny. The Neil Warnock effect is already starting……

Not at our best early in the first half but a break in play enabled Matt to get instructions across and we noticeably improved. Second half we came out with a renewed sense of purpose and although Donny had one or two decent chances they failed to capitalise on them. 3 good points earned today and with 47 points on the board surely any talk of looking down the table can be banished.

David A’s goal must be a contender for goal of the week as well as, at the moment, goal of the season. It’s scoring a goal like that must have added a few extra £k to his value 👍

Excellent win this afternoon backing up the Swindon late show in the week. I actually thought we looked a bit tired/not quite at it first 20 minutes or so but then we grew into the game. My first game since New Years Day today so a first viewing of Lee Angol who I thought was excellent - good touch and some aggressive driving runs. Second goal was an absolute joy to watch - you’ll struggle to find a better technical pass than Smiths to Ajiboye.
A couple of comments on Doncaster’s forum.. ‘Sutton are one of those clubs like Fleetwood and Morecambe that are like sh*t you can’t scrape from bottom of your shoe. It’s both a disgrace they did and entirely predictable they have beaten us’
‘Sutton were a poor side but took their chances’

More vented spleen from fans of formally bigger clubs whose own teams show little in the way of finesse and far less in the way of staying power. And in D2 poor teams don't go top 10. They just don't. (Edit) Tbf, most of the other comments on the Donny fans' forum are far more balanced.

In two consecutive home games this week our opponents threatened to outplay us in the first half but were ground down and defeated in the second.
Let's be clear, Donny are a better side now than when they beat us with two stoppage-time goals at their place back in August. Their ability to run and pass through our lines caused us a few heart flutters, and Ben Goodliffe in particular had to make some last-ditch interceptions to snuff out first-half scoring opportunities. But when we had the ball we did threaten, and their keeper was the busier of the two, his fingertip save from Harry thwarting the best attempt of the first 45.
After half-time we ramped up the pressure, and they became the team threatening sporadically on the counter-attack. Two very different goals delivered the three points, our two centre backs combining for the first from a corner, then Ali's exquisite crossfield pass finding David breaking forward and calmly finishing for the second.
We take 9th place from them and are edging closer to the play-off places. That's six wins and only one defeat now in our last ten games. Things are looking up.🙂

A long League pedigree and a ground that has hosted higher division football in the past grants no 'right to win'. It is odd how many fans think it should. Sutton, Morecambe, Fleetwood all relative newcomers but the only way in is on merit. The way out by contrast has many routes.

On the way out i heard some Donny fans say that we were very well organised. Kind of thing that English pundits used to say about West Germany winning, in the days when they were 'good but not popular'. Still, I imagine that comment was well enough meant.

A friend of mine who is an AFC Wimbledon fan similarly describes us as 'well organised'. I don' think this is meant in any sense to be derogatory. I think that it is recognition of the excellent work that Matt and Jason do in preparing the team for matches. I think that this preparation has played a key role in enabling us to consistently punch above our weight since Matt's tenure as manager began.

Another good 3 points for us, and taking us to our highest position in the league so far this season (and I keep remembering Bristol Rovers last season who got their highest position in the league in the last 10 mins of the year!). Donny were by far the better team in the first 20 minutes but we slowly grew into the game especially as Matt said he got the approach wrong at the start.
I was especially impressed with Donny though. Not the Rovers, but the Wilson variety who really took to the Bugiel role and was involved in every attack we had leading up to the first goal. Battling to create changes, crossing balls in. He had a big impact on the performance, and probably was my man of the match. By, my word, that through ball from Ali to release David for the goal that killed off the game was just wonderful wasn't it?
