Thought this deserves (in a negative way) a thread of its own. The PA system isn’t fit for purpose, and hasn’t been for seasons. Neither I, or those who stand around me, can make out the player line-ups, latest scores or almost any other snippet of information that is dispensed. I would have loved to know who the three people were who were inducted into the SUFC Hall of Fame, but could make out nothing of the muffled noise coming from the speakers. Funnily enough I can always clearly hear the attendance total!?
Either the system is not being used properly or it isn’t up to the job. Either way, this is not just poor for League Two, but not worthy of a village fete. Needs sorting. Letting down an otherwise enjoyable match day experience.

Agree totally. It wouldn’t take much for one of the board members to walk round the ground to see where it’s good and bad.
Probably not a popular opinion perhaps we need a new announcer

I think I started a simliar thread around 2 months back. Apparently improvements are 'pending'. Btw, might we lose the 'I can hear things from where I stand' replies? The point is that the PA is practically inaudible and/or lacks all clarity in many parts of the ground. And that's not good enough.

I was on the Rec side today (bang opposite the tunnel) and heard everything fine

I never hear it but it doesn’t really bother me in the slightest. I get that it will others and it should be heard. Am sure it’s on the ‘to do’ list. Great attendance today I thought - and the sort of level we need to get to on a longer term basis (3,500-4,000).

The point is that many people, in many parts of the ground, can hear diddly squat. And that's not good enough. We're above the level of that being tolerable, now.

Maybe try the Rec side on Tues night, to compare against what you heard today.

Maybe try the Rec side on Tues night, to compare against what you heard today. I do stand on the Rec side. Near to the GGL end corner flag. But people being able to hear from some places but not others is actually part of the problem. We are a L2 club. Partial audibility isn't sufficient. As we have a good attendance, now, a lot of fans stand in a lot of different places. A lot of them don't hear the tannoy announcements. Comparing our tannoy to those in other L2 grounds would, perhaps, be a better yardstick? I'm betting that most of the other L2 clubs have better, more consistenly audible, tannoy systems. But I don't get to many away matches. What say those who do?

Maybe try the Rec side on Tues night, to compare against what you heard today. Sorry sufc1898, but that is irrelevant. Do you suggest all 3,500 of us stand where you did just so that we can hear the tannoy clearly? A PA system should be clearly heard everywhere in the ground, not just in a very few selected sweet spots. This should be something that the club take seriously and rectify. Sutton United is, like it or not, now a business, and no business should knowingly short-change its customers. I know, we are fans, supporters, fanatics and it feels wrong to be termed as customers, but we are now a Football League club, where money talks and bums on seats (or feet on the terraces) is important. For the transient spectator, to maximise the matchday experience might turn them into a future season ticket holder who will then bring on others to join them. And all for the want of a clear tannoy EVERYWHERE in the ground.

I’ve visited a lot of lower league grounds this season and our PA system has been the worst by far

Maybe more need to be like Gareth 👍 Patience can often be a virtue. But there are occasions when the world won't wait patiently for one to catch up. What is happening to us, the professionalisation (in the broadest sense of the word) of the club, is happening right now. L2 category judgements about us, and evaluations of us, are being made by those visiting our ground right now. Not in a little while, but now.

Be patient - I’m sure the club have it in hand.
