Great game for Omar, two well taken goals, shame he could not pinch a hattrick. Denis showed how much of a threat he can be, looks explosive and sharp, just seemed to slip over a lot in the first half. He had an air of Tanto about him last night.
Rose again showing that he is a solid keeper. Really happy with him.
Generally the ref as with the game before, seemed to allow them to pull us down every 5 mins with no yellow cards, and this allows the other team to keep hacking us down. Stop start, Stop Start, Stop Start. But we delt with it a bit better yesterday and played more direct counter attacking balls which always looked like a threat.
Nice tidy finish for Angol.
I think Crawley don't look too bad, I would not rule them out just yet.
Good to hear the home crowed singing more! Its been a bit dead of late but the players must get a boost from it!

If we take the current standings on who leaves and joins L2 next season
Leaving - Leyton Orient, Carlisle, Stevenage, Northampton, Crawley, Rochdale Joining - Wrexham, Notts C, Morecambe, MK Dons, Cambridge Utd, FGR
Then the distances will be slightly different next season - Rochdale for Wrexham, Northampton for Cambridge, Carlisle for MK Dons plus Morecambe. Which basically leaves the difference between Notts C and FGR (which combined is about 280 miles) vs Leyton Orient, Stevenage and Crawley (which combined makes around 140 miles using fastest routes on the road). So not a huge difference in mileage (bearing in mind this season we travel less that the initial season).
If Bromley, Barnet or Woking say came up in the play offs, or Oxford came down instead of Morecambe, we'd be travelling fewer miles next season than this.
That's of course if we are still in L2 next season. Obviously we won't go down realistically, but we're now only 9 points away from making that a mathematical certainty (Rochdale can only get a maximum of 58 points, and Hartlepool 62). Crawley can still end up on 65 points if they win their remaining games.

I don't think that concerns me at all. Presuming Wrexham and/or Notts C come up, they'd be certain to bring more than Crawley and more than likely spend more at the ground or within the locality. Localish derbies don't always bring in crowds. Boreham Wood certainly won't Wrexham coming up would be a lot of fun and a bumper crowd. Looking at the teams in danger in League One, we should have some decent trips there too. If Carlisel go up, then anyone but Morecambe going down/BW or Solihul coming up, and we've improved our fixture list considerably, with or without Crawley. I'd prefer Hartlepool or harrogate to go down than Crawley though. BW or Eastleigh as a league side. Urgh

In answer to Baboonfish, if you don't know why the officials have been ridiculed then I will point to the ball going clearly over the line as photographic evidence shows by some distance being missed by the linesman who was in line with the goal. How he couldn't see it when all behind could will be forever one of the mysteries of the world. The whole point of football is scoring goals and when you do and the officials don't notice it is more than cause for concern. Secondly the six's first yellow was for a blatant elbow on Omar after he had missed getting David Ajiboye. Then the ref missed the second similar assault on Kylian. I assume the 4th official didn't. Both were red cards not two bloody yellows. Still, if you think that's acceptable then perhaps your bar is set a lot lower than that of others. Officiating in this country has been going downhill for years. Hopefully Howard Webb (world cup final aside) can do something positive now he has taken over from that idiot, whose name I forget, who has presided over this constant fall in standards that has seen English refs lose credibility abroad. Let's face it, if Anthony Taylor is now considered our best we're in trouble. I agree the six was a nasty peice of work. But watching from not that far away, it was hard to see whether contact with Omar was intentional. Also the attack on KK was so far off the ball I am not surprised the ref missed it. I certainly didnt see it from in line with play. I cant comment on the ball over the line as I rushed off a moment before it to catch transport, but surely you take the rough (Hartlepool non-red on Will and ball over the line) with the smooth (Swindon equaliser should have been disallowed and questionable 3rd goal). Yes it's highly frustrating when clear goals are missed, and surely goalline tech needs to come in across all professional leagues, but at 3-0, it's really not important. The one at Bradford last season was utterly ridiculous - handball AND it was over the line. 2-0 and perhaps 10 men we would have won that game. Agree the linesmen are often poor and on those occasions its down to them to spot. But officiating is a thankless task and not easy. If you want answers, go watch referees getting regular physical and verbal abuse at amateur level. A lack of respect at grassroots level is one of the key reasons few people (except the sort of thick skinned limelight hoggers we often get) want to do it. Actually that handball at Bradford would have reduced them to 9 as they already had a guy sent off. And the person that handles on the line was none other than Lee Angol so I've been told. He owes us big time

Noticed quite a few posts about Crawley’s “number 6”, aka Joel Lynch. He’s an interesting guy and I know him well as he played for Huddersfield Town between 2012-2016, so I say him plenty of times. By his own admission he’s a footballer that doesn’t like football, but “he was good at it and it paid well”. He’s had a good career mainly at Championship level for Town, QPR, Sunderland. He’s from Sussex so Crawley was handy for him living Brighton way.
He WAS good but he always had an attitude and he left Town because he couldn’t (or didn’t want to) deal with the double training sessions brought in by David Wagner.
As an ex-Town player I watched him a bit last night and I’m afraid I recognised a few traits from before. He was clearly getting very exasperated with his teammates at their failings and he lost his rag. Not the first time by a long shot. He isn’t a leader, because his heart really isn’t in it. The sending off was no shock to me.

BW or Eastleigh as a league side. Urgh Aren't we going up? so will be playing the likes of Blackpool Huddersfield Wigan Wycombe Derby Portsmouth Bristol Rovers Charlton Cheltenham. League 2 constitution won't concern us.😂 Have we ever won a play off game? I believe not. Looking at the sides in contention, we are very much outsiders but if we maintain our form and hit the play offs on a great run, who knows, but I would give us pretty poor odds. Now whether we WANT to go up, a different question. I'd take a play off defeat at wembley all day long, at least until we have sorted our ground out.

I was looking at the last few seasons in League Two for teams who made the play-offs with slender goal differences.
Newport got there with 59 goals for and 59 against, they also lost 18 times.
Sutton United narrowly missed out last year with +16 as you all know.Hopefully they can do it this time.

There are lots of things that Sutton United weren't able to do until they did them. Matt has broken a lot of firsts at his time in charge. I'm not sure he'd give much of a damn about Dos' playoff record

Both our wide players were guilty of slowing down our attacking impetus last night - this allowed the oppo defenders to organise and our overlapping players runs to become redundant. It meant that we lacked fluidity and surprise. Of course, we also do not want to hobble either Will or David as they can both punish defenders, but sometimes it would be good (especially Will) not to shimmy over a static ball before cutting inside, or David to go on a mazy run up a curl-de-sac. At times, the simple pass or lay-off would be a better choice.

Great performances from our strikers/forwards. I fear Donovan is going to have difficulty getting back into the team.

Just seen the “highlights” and Angol is clearly on side, so don’t know why the crawley players were complaining. They were moaning more about that than their performance, but who cares. ⚽️⚽️⚽️
