During recent discussions of having travelled long distances for 0-0 draws (on the Barrow thread) I am surprised that no one has mentioned a certain trip to Dublin! * I am sure that some may well have forgotten there was actually a game on at all!! Great day (for many, long weekend! ) though; and for possibly our least most important fixture? Whatever, it was well worth it. This also got me thinking of what my most memorable away games have actually been during my time supporting the mighty Us? To name the ones that come readily to mind... Saying "come readily to mind" I have purposely not looked them up, interesting how ones perception of games gets distorted over time. (ie when you are "getting on"!). Consequently, I realise that the lack of accuracy will be sheer purgatory for the likes of, MarkF, Presssec & DaveF to name but a few, so my apologies in advance. In no particular order therefore (or level of importance) ... Peterborough FA Cup - Who were the league team that day? Worthing - one of our back to back title wining seasons - Rick Collier double penalty save Yeovil Town- FAT (?) - 4-2 (?) - All 6 goals in the same end (?) due to gale blowing and slope. Screaming OG by their centre back to open the scoring. Aylesbury - 4-1 - Championship wining season Walthamstow Avenue - 1-0 , Paul McKinnon - on an absolute dust bowl, on a Thursday night having lost to Croydon on the Monday night. (needing to win to continue final championship push) . Not to mention, in a slightly different context, games remembered simply for our magical "little pub team" playing in so many impressive stadiums - eg, first season in GMVC and League 2, of course (the Bradford San Siro) et al. There are plenty of others I'm sure if I carried on but that's a start. Interested to hear from others reminding me of the ones I have so obviously missed/ forgotten. And before anyone says anything - No, I wasn't able to go to either Middlesbrough (FAC Replay) or Maidstone (NLS) - I know, tell me about it .... Oh you have...MANY TIMES! * - Why do I feel certain that at least one of said MarfF, Presssec & DaveF will tell me that travelling to Barrow by road is probably further in miles than Dublin?!

What a lovely idea for a thread.
There's an obvious one missing from your initial list. AFC Wimbledon 1 Sutton 3, FA Cup 2017. Already down as many peoples' favourite games of all time.
Other ones that spring to mind would be the Dartford game in the same cup run, the sheer madness of a 6-3 win for us. One of my favourites too was April 93 at Wycombe in the FAT semi in 93 where we outplayed the hosts and the match was 90 mins end to end with us being the victors.
Much more recently would be the penalty drama at Wigan to get us to Wembley.
I'm sure there are plenty more.

Maidstone in the Conference South winning season was fun.
As well as Bohemians in Dublin, Airdreonians was another interesting away game in the Scottish Challenge Cup.
Torquay away on a Tuesday night in February 2018 may not have been the best game, but a last minute penalty winner in a midweek away game is always a moment of beauty

Assuming you can count my two Wembley visits as "away" games too, how can these be forgotten? (despite the results, naturally). Interestingly, and without this being the intention at all , I have gone for my older memories of games. Is this because we almost expect great things these days as our bandwagon of success seems to keep rolling?? Back in those early days for me, actually seeing Barrie Williams, our Barrie Williams, simply smoking a pipe on national television was something you wound back continually on VHS to bore your family with !!

As I have often stated Chieti away and indeed all the AIT matches I saw in Italy.
Others have been mentioned but the 3 1 win at Rushden in 2000, FAT replay is another. A win against all the odds that.
Any win at Enfield but the 77/8 LSC 1 0 victory as U's had shipped ten league goals against them that season.
There are plenty of others but getting ready to leave for car park duty so ain't got the time at present

For some reason, a game that stands out for me was an FA Cup replay win on a Tuesday night at Havant and Waterlooville many years ago (I can not even remember the score). I remember us being under pressure for most of the game - but we defended brilliantly - particularly Micky Preston. I also seem to recall a win at Dagenham that I think more or less clinched the Isthmian League title - but I'm old and my memory isn't so good these days - so i might be imagining it.

Not sure of the facts of it, but after Saturday's shenanigans Barrow certainly seemed a lot further than Dublin.
In one of the pieces I was doing for the 125th anniversary I did say that a lot of my fond away memories come from the 1970s - Mark's picked up on the win at Enfield, and in an earlier round of the LSC that season we won 3-0 at Hendon. There was also a 2-1 win at Southall at Christmas 1975 which was my first away league game. All good memories.
Just to pick up on a couple of things in the original message. That game at Walthamstow was actually played on the Tuesday, the day after we'd lost to a last minute goal at Croydon, hence I suspect why we remember it so well as it was extremely tense. On the Thursday we then beat Kingstonian at Sutton to clinch the league. There had been a month without football in February and early March because of the weather so we were pretty much playing three times a week from the end of March, and four times that week.
And the screaming own goal at Yeovil wasn't just any own goal, it was scored by their player-manager, which must have made the half time team talk at 4-0 down interesting.
It was 3-1 at Waterlooville (they and Havant were separate clubs then). It was in 1975 and earned us a home tie against Bournemouth in the first round.

You reminded me of another one - winning 4-0 at Dagenham in the FA Cup 1st round. A simple demolition just helped by one of their players punching Paul Rogers in the mush to get sent off.

Tuesday night FA Cup replay in the rain at Woodford United. Strangely enough that was a Monday. Although to be honest there will only be 15 of us that remember that game. The infamous "Woodford 15". A rare highlight in an appalling season.

As I say how your memory plays tricks. Saturday (assumed), Monday, Tuesday, Thursday in order to win the league - wonder if Pep and Jurgen would have anything to say about that??

Up until April last year (and omitting Wembley visits generally), the largest assembled Amber-army gathering for an away game might have been at Carrow Rd in January 1989...with the world watching whilst we got roundly humbled, there was something truly memorable about 6000-7000 Sutton fans all together in one corner of the stadium!!

Loads to choose from, but I'll throw in our 3-2 win at Chester on 19 August 2017, a very late Kieron Cadogan goal putting us top of the National League, the first time we'd hold that position for more than a few hours.

Mine in no particular order would be
- FA Cup Rd 1 1993: Colchester 3 Sutton 4: mad mad game with 3 goals in the final few minutes - 1999 Aylesbury 1 Sutton 4: who saw that score coming when we were down to 10 men early on? - 1969 Amateur Cup Semi Final: U's 4 Whitley Bay 2; first time I'd been further north than my nan's in Camden, on the coach to St Andrews Birmingham. Riotous ride back, also buouyed by Swindon beating Arsenal 3-1 in the League Cup final that afternoon - 2018 Bohemians - A Scottish Cup game between the Irish and English in Dublin? Score was almost irrelevant - 1997 (I think) - St Albans 0 U's 1; last minute winner from Big Bad Dom standing on a snow swept terrace with my 2 lads. Simple joys!

Aylesbury 4-1 R&D 3-1 FAT (but oh so soured by the semi) Dover 3-2 AET in the FAT in 93/94 I think it was Wimbledon 3-1 - magic 5th is probably Wigan, but it was very draining and I dont think I really enjoyed any of it except Deano's save to win it.
