Davep.your analysis regarding goals for / against makes good reading.against last season and this. I agree with you that the situation about lack of goals has to be addressed. No doubt the management team has to look into this.Possible a change of system of play / tactics etc.( just a suggestion )As been said by others we are to predictable. As been said earlier and since we have forwards who have not scored for a long time although the indever and commitment is there.

When are the shackles going to come off? . We are so predictable. Change the front two on 70 minutes. Why not leave one on at 1-0 down if play offs were seen as possible. Difference in class showed. The injury list grows and I see us getting few points between now and the end of the season. Big rebuilding project needed in the close season. Sorry what? Big rebuilding project? Is a mid table finish in L2 such a failure to go into a big rebuild? I would say so if the desire is to finish higher than mid table. The midfield and forward line are not strong enough that’s 5 or 6 places up for grabs from 11. Another couple of injuries Saturday so we can expect to see Dundas or even Gambin on the bench Monday.

Have to agree with you. Have no doubt about it, SU have done remarkably well since entering L2 and a top half finish this season would be commendable, BUT…… The club cannot sit on its laurels, it has to seek gradual improvement and that will require some better players, particularly in midfield and upfront. To not recognise this would be folly and inevitably lead to decline. I’m certain the club knows all of this. I do understand that there are still substantial off-pitch commitments as well. Rather than the emphasis being on recruitment from the NL and even below, it needs stepping up a level. Of course this is easier said than done and money will always be the significant factor, but that’s the market. Perhaps the club should try to establish a relationship with a higher level club from whom SU could perhaps loan a couple of promising academy players?

Let's just remember folks, we're 10th in League Two. TENTH. Above teams like Swindon, Tranmere, AFC Wimbledon, Doncaster etc. I think we're doing fantastically well. No doubt there will be a few changes in the summer, but let's not lose perspective. BUT - it would be nice to see us score a few more...

Stockport County become the second club this season (after Salford City) to complete a league double over us. Both are decent sides and it's not hard to see why they're above us in the table. I don't think we played badly yesterday, and, were it not for some good saves by visiting keeper Hinchcliffe, we could have got something from the game. Our best spell came shortly after they'd scored, Hinchcliffe saving well from Will Randall then saving again following the ensuing corner, with a follow-up header cleared off the line. Ali Smith looked to have a great chance to equalise in stoppage time but couldn't quite get his shot away. The lack of goals is a concern, with only one scored in our last five games. I'm not sure why Matt starts with Donovan Wilson, a striker whose effort I won't criticise but who hasn't scored for nearly six months, instead of Lee Angol. As mentioned above, the injury to Craig Eastmond was a blow, and Will limped off later in the match. Expect some line-up changes at Bradford on Monday. Hinchliffe* I was debating replying to this thread but couldn't help myself there as it's been a perpetual bugbear since he joined us all the way back in the Conference North. Even some County fans still get it wrong (despite him now having made more appearances than any keeper in our history). Obviously enjoyed my first trip to GGL since covid and did like the slightly taller new shiny away end. Hopefully I can make another game in the home end sooner rather than later. Wishing Eastmond a speedy recovery and good luck for the rest of the season - and not just because you have an opportunity to take points of Northampton and Carlisle.

I am not going to be so crass as to name them but 3 of the midfield that played yesterday. One is on loan so needs to be replaced. . At least two of the four strikers that played and probably at least two on the bench.
Why do you always post with questions? Do you not have an opinion?

6 games is a lot of footie but we just do not look quite good enough to make a play off challenge this year. Very well organised, good defence, and a hard working midfield, but up front we have lacked the teeth. Another fantastic season having stayed up, and with lots of injuries which also did not help. At times we look out of ideas and can be predictable, But sometimes it costs money to sort that out, which we do not have. It will be interesting what happens pre season.
It will take a huge effort to sneak in the play offs but we need to be on the heels of other teams who may slip up. Pressure is off us now really.

I think that everyone is rightly proud of what Sutton have achieved this season and the last few seasons (and further back than that). Considering what may be required to move to the next level in no way diminishes the pride in where we are now. I'm sure that Pep Guardiola is constantly thinking about how he can make his Man City side even better than they already are. With regard to Terrier's (on point) post above - I thought that we had a bit of a 'connection' with Millwall regarding loaning players on the back of Matt's past connection with that club. Seem to recall a similar connection in the past with Coventry following Max Biamou's move? It would be nice to build up a squad of our own players rather than being dependent on loan signings - but, as already stated, that might require money that we simply don't have. On Friday, Stockport had strikers sitting on their bench who would be in our starting line up - but they are in a very different place to us from a financial perspective. For now, good management and recruitment are key - and we have an exceptional manager. Terrier's other great love (Huddersfield) are currently showing what can be achieved by good (great) management.

I agree with two of those.
Poor set piece delivery, predictability, lack of pace and susceptibility to injury rule one out.

Sorry Stewart. I have to agree with halfimet. Yes keep Eastie and Ali in the lineup.
OK I admit he has scored some good goals.

I think it’s pretty poor that we are discussing who should/shouldn’t be playing for us next season, when there are still 6 games left in this season.
