nobody is addressing the elephant in the room- we are only providing another 1000 seats because the EFL say we have to have 2000 seats (not because, we the fans are demanding it.) Who is going to want to sit in these new seats as presumably they will be more expensive than standing, plus a seated spectator takes up alot more space than a standing spectator, so how are we going to maintain or even increase our circa 5000 capacity unless the new stand has much greater height than the new away stand? Out new stand has to be approximately 3.5 times larger than the yellow one at the Collingwood end.

I do not know what the plans are, but just a few points to consider:- Seat centres must be at least 460mm apart. So let's say 2 seats per metre. If you have an area 20m wide that's 40 seats (excluding aisles), so a thousand seats would make it 25 steps high !
A pitch is approx 100m long, so 200 seats (excluding aisles). That would be 5 rows high. But don't forget that any spaces lost to a new structure would need replacing to maintain the minimum capacity.
Whatever we do, it requires a lot of planning.

Thanks for a sensible explanation. Too much panic re seats, stands, possible cost etc at such an early stage of planning.

Agreed, not really sure what the plan is on Collingwood side other than it involves the necessary seats. Also was the Community Pavilion mentioned? I just hope, whatever is erected it’s placed a lot nearer the pitch, beyond the current boundary fence would be ideal. The club will also have to consider the location of the pitch covers. They will need to go inside the fence and not on the grass. Also the need to take a run up for throws and corners. In my opinion we should then lose the ball people (who do little ball retrieval anyway).

Thanks for a sensible explanation. Too much panic re seats, stands, possible cost etc at such an early stage of planning. Not sure I’ve seen any panic. Just natural curiosity of what the ground might look like in 2024/25. It’s the thing of most interest to me on the ground updates and probably the biggest update to the ground in several decades, maybe matched to an extent by the away revamp.

One thing AB said was, the stand would be delivered and quickly erected. That suggests it will be a temporary structure similar to the ones at Bristol Rovers and Crawley Town.

It’s the thing of most interest to me on the ground updates and probably the biggest update to the ground in several decades, maybe matched to an extent by the away revamp. I'm sure we all are. But as it's quite obvious that the club don't know exactly which plan they will go with (for a multitude of reasons), we have to be patient. Just because we have a channel where people can say what they want and in some cases feel like they have a right to demand information on tap (not only about ground improvements) doesn't mean the club should or would share such information before the time is right to do so. The club know what they are doing, and know better than any fan not involved in that side of the running of the club what parameters they have - whether it be regulation, finances, practicality etc and we don't really have any reason to doubt they won't deliver. Unfortunately I disagree, there are some people that do panic about this and other aspect of the club. The panic when the released players list was announced was quite laughable. And of course panic isn't logical in any way when those panicking have no control about any of the situations they panic over. Of course people will always have their own opinions. Mine is based purely on the fact that I trust the club, both on the playing side and on the infrastructure side to make the right calls. Something they've done time and time again.

There is no harm in discussing it though!

It stands to reason that there will be seating alongside Collingwood Road recreation ground side (park) and really needs eventually to run the whole side of the pitch. However it is quite likely a temporary stand will be erected there for cost reasons. The reason being that the main stand on the railway side has almost come to the end of its useful life and will require a very large sum of money to replace.

I’m certainly welcoming the discussion as what is obvious to one isn’t to others. I had no idea there was more than 1 plan currently. I personally don’t see any harm in communicating - it could look like x, or it might be like y, more news when we finalise things. It might help the panickers not panic and save their health.
But now Del has said the main stand will need replacing that may well get me into panic mode to join the other panickers.

In an earlier thread T A said he wanted £500.000 plus for the new stand. If the main stand has to be replaced I hate to think what that would cost to replace.

Let’s get Paul Scully on the podcast. The reason that Wrexham are getting funding from government, is that they want to use the ground for Wales international matches. So the ground needs up grading too the international standards. If the main stand eventually needs replacing, Im sure the club U’S would go down all avenues, same as the park side. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

I already know the answer.
