The latest rumor is that we are trying to sign Matthew Stevens who has just been released by Forest Green. 26 years old so has Steves younger player stamp all over it. 100% take Stevens - decent pedigree - he ripped up the National League the season FGR went up I think. Can see him forming a good partnership with Smith should he sign. Realistically we are not going to be aiming any higher than the likes of him. Looks like he struggled a bit in League One, but the season before he banged in 23 in League 2 and last season 9 in 23 League 2 games for a relegated side. No reason someone like him can't bang in a few for us next season. The club could be putting out there as a faint as they aim for another, but would not surprise me if this is legit. |

Might be in a minority here but, regarding strikers, maybe Olly Sanderson could do a good job for us next season if available, perhaps on loan? He's shown he knows where the back of the net is given space and time and he'll get more of those in the NL.

The Stevens rumour has started from an account on Twitter called TransferCentre9
They have a 100% record on Sutton transfer predictions. When I say 100%, it's 100% incorrect.
Previous predictions include:
Nicky Bailey signing for Dagenham and Redbridge in the Summer of 2016
Jordan Maguire-Drew being in a tug of war between us and Stevenage (he signed for Woking)
Paul McCallum signing for us or AFC Wimbledon for £300k from Eastleigh (he stayed at Eastleigh)
I say this every year but virtually every rumour you "hear" is going to be utter guff.

Although no one here as even accepted that this is true. But just considering it to be true, and in doing so, is doing no harm whats so ever. Its hardly beyond the rhelms of possibility that its true..
Usually these types of rumours come from network who has agent contacts.
You also have to check if it is a claim of an actual signing or claim of interest or just talks..
If it says Sutton is in talks with someone.. so on. That does not mean we are signing him, but its possibly who we are considering or enquiring about, which I find interesting.
With this latest rumour, its a more bold statement which says we are leading the race and negotiating a 2 year deal. So I imagine if we don't hear more within a week or two, then its a dud, or someone else will sign him soon.

The more guffs the better as far as I’m concerned ! Hearing that we “might” be about to sign somebody of promise or proven quality will keep me going over the next couple of months until we start kicking balls again .
With this in mind how about Maguire from Man Utd to shore up our defence next season 🤪🤪

It would be a little easier for him in the NL if he were to re-join us. |

Another twitter post suggesting AFCW interest in Harry Smith.
Not sure how he and Omar Bugiel fit in the same XI but I suppose it is a squad game.

AFC must have been one of the other two league clubs looking at him. Probably legit that they were sniffing around Smith, which probably wont happen now. |
