Rediculous 17m added to a fluent and quick paced game. God help us when there is real time wasting and issues taking place!
As for the game. I thought we were the better side and thought we were worthy winners, should have really wrapped it up in 90m (or should I say 107m?) relatively comfortably. Reff was pretty poor, though consistant at least.
As for Arnold and John going off at half time. I thought after the blunder they both looked solid enough so I wonder if there was some ill feeling spilling over in the dressing room, which he wanted to remove from the game. hmmm..

More likely pre- planned, Louis has had hardly any minutes pre-season

Strictly speaking, it just makes it the correct lenght. Of actual playing time. Previously we were watching far less than 90 minutes of actual football. Which is what we're there for. So where did the ref find 6 mins of extra time in the first half today ? No stoppages and no time wasting that i could see. 11 mins second half. It's like playing extra time every match . The detailed (operative word) reasons why this is happening (and it's going to be the same detailed reasons in each and every match) are given in the 'Stoppage Time' thread. And the rule changes for this season were posted in the 'Around EFL League 2' thread by Stewart in late July. Read 'em? I don't exactly love it. But it's worth understanding it.

Sutton fans have certainly had their money's worth in the first two games of the season; ten goals, seven of them to us, plus a 6-5 penalty shoot-out success that takes us to the 2nd round of the Carabao Cup at the third attempt.
Cambridge Utd were certainly stiffer opponents than Notts County, and we had to come from behind twice to take the tie to penalties. As against Notts, both Harrys found the net, Harry B winning and converting a penalty towards the end of normal time. Their first goal was down to some sloppy defending, their second from the spot either an error by Jack Rose or the ref.
Cambridge had a lot of pace in their side and, after we'd almost taken the lead, caught us on the break, Steve Arnold making a great save with his foot. That was later bettered by their keeper's point blank save from Harry S.
Now in unknown territory in this competition, we await Wednesday's draw for the next round.

Not a bad two games to kick off the season.

Match report indicates Arnold was injured. Louis’ substitution was surely planned as he had no pre season.

The draw will be tonight at around 10.15pm (after the Burton - Leicester game) on Sky Sports.
I can't see the ball numbers but at the moment we could potentially draw one of the following (although I expect there will be some movement between N & S pots to make it a 24/24 split):
Newport Peterborough Swansea Birmingham Exeter Portsmouth Gillingham Reading Wycombe Plymouth Stevenage AFC Wimbledon/Coventry Bristol C/Oxford Cardiff/Colchester Ipswich/Bristol Rovers QPR/Norwich Bournemouth Crystal Palace Fulham Chelsea Brentford Spurs Luton
Actually, looking at the numbers, there are 23 sides listed there, plus us making 24. Some potentially mouth watering ties there, and not just Spurs/Chelsea. A few names from our cups past are there (Coventry/Norwich/Wycombe/Bournemouth/Peterborough)
If you're unaware, the next round will be played w/c 29th Aug (between our trip to Newport and the home game v FGR)

I thought the crowd looked to be about 2k last night, certainly more than the 1,761 announced.

What would make the club more money?
Winning a round 2 fixture into round 3, a winnable home game against a higher league team that could be shown on Sky, or an away game a big Premier League where we will get a % of gate receipts?

Thanks to the night time closure of the UK's almost entire road network I arrived home at 2am, but still buzzing after onw of the most enjoyable nights at GGL in recent times. I brought along to the game two colleagues from work, both Cambridge Utd season ticket holders, who came along expecting a comfortable enough victory and an opportunity to continue their habitual ribbing of me in the office for the foreseeable. They left extolling the quality of the beer, the tidiness of our bars, the friendliness of our supporters, the absolute charm of GGL [BTW do the powers that be know that the roof of the stand leaks water...?] and above all, the quality of our players and the attractiveness of our style of play. They were gutted to have lost the shoot out but otherwise enjoyed the whole match night experience. FINALLY, they understand what I've been harping on about over the years and why I follow Sutton United. It WAS a great night, thanks to everyone.

It's certainly not the prize money. We got £5 for winning last night. The same as we got for drawing a ex-pizza cup group game. And winning in he 2nd round gives us £7k, £3k less than than winning a group stage match in the ex-pizzza cup. But I think it's probably the latter in answer to your question because, although it's not hugely clear, the TV rights for Carabao cup games from what I'm aware of is modest.

Excellent win. Coming back after being behind twice is a good sign, we look like we have plenty of options in attacking areas, I’d imagine a couple more wide players would be ideal. Overall I’d say we had the better chances and other than the gifts (both goals and almost a 3rd that Arnold well saved) we looked organised and hard to breakdown.
Just made it home before midnight, seems like it will be a familiar race for Tuesday night games.
Sad to hear their manager playing down the significance of an exit. Plenty of apathy about the competition generally amongst fans. I like Matt’s attitude that every competition matters. Plenty of chance for memorable days and decent cash on offer with the right draw.
It’ll be interesting how we go against the stern tests of Barrow and Gillingham.
