As Dave has said, making the pitch larger is not easy and practical. Around the edge of the present pitch is the drainage and sprinkler systems. These would have to be moved, at a cost if the pitch was made wider or longer. What we all know and have looked into is replacing the whole playing area. The earth under the grass is dead. After years of playing, training and rolling it, the earth, clay and chalk has become compressed and no air can get through. What we need, as most clubs have got is a sand based pitch. The cost of this would be very near £100 k. The biggest cost now adays is the removal and getting rid of all the waste from the old pitch. This has to be taken to a registered dump at a large cost. Gone are the days when it cost nothing to dump the rubbish.

I was surprised when the drainage and sprinkler systems were put in that they were put in a position that now we can't widen the pitch to what it used to be.

If we cant widen the pitch due to the position of the sprinkler/drainage systems, then we must look at moving the hordings in ; if we cant do any of these, then we might as well look at ground-sharing now because with dwindling crowds and other income sources, the board will probably have to take a serious look at this soon .

I can assure you the Board has absolutely no intention of looking at groundsharing and neither is there any need to even consider it. The equation is quite simple, win games and people will watch.

Can't really see how moving the advertising hoardings in could prevent us having to groundshare. Not sure what planet you are on, but it certainly isn't amber!!!

Sure, if we win games, support will increase but do you really think that we will get attendances back towards 1000 like we had in the early 1990s ?

They were never that high on average in the 80s when we were in the Conference ! We are doing an enormous amount of work at present in committee and with the Trust and alongside the local community to increase interest in the club and attract spectators, with an objective of going above 700 this season on a regular basis and hopefully pushing on next season.

I think we should draw a line under this lets be honest, with our average gate being 500, every one could be seated in the main stand with room to spare!! We struggled to get a gate of 1000 when we were in the conference a few years ago. Although I agree in principle with whats being said ( lack of atmosphere etc) I am sure if we had the money it could be better spent elsewhere. I am sure that if we draw Man U or Arsenal in the cup no one would worry about the old running track.. My memory goes back to when we stood under the elm trees on the terraces.!!! So lets get behind the team 2morrow and get a winning start to our FA Cup run.

If we all just brought one friend the gate would double.... ..whoops I've got no friends

Show off... Though I'm bringing a mate tomorrow. But as Stuart says, we should worry more about bringing people in than what terracing or pitch size we have.
