Having supported SU since 89 , i have become increasingly irritated about the running track (or whatever) which keeps spectators at isolated from the play; imagine if we were fight up within a metre or so of play as at many other grounds - so much better! any suggestions??
clue : radical thinking required - something the board are incapable of!

Hmmm.... wonder if playing at the Borough SPORTS Ground has something to do with a running track (and sandpit).
And do you not think that people consider this? Or have you suddenly won the lottery and can now pay for it?

OK the suggestion is to spend a lot of money squaring off that end of the ground.
I personally don't see any need in getting the sides any closer, but you may also have an idea for this.
What is your suggestion? Expand the pitch?

Not really a new subject and easily done, just costs money to do it and I would rather see that spent on the team at present to get us out of the Ryman!

Or we could hand out binoculars at the start of the game.

My first suggestion is how about backing up your criticism of the board with some facts?

I personally don't have a problem with the running track but often wonder why we keep the pitch so narrow and i noticed this season it had been put in further.

Blimey I remember running around that track and throwing the javelin and shot put, so I guess we are lucky we don’t have that anymore, as the pitch must have been a mess in them days. I think it was the Sutton and Cheam Harriers running club that was there. Do we know if there is any more funds being given out for the Olympic committee/ local Government and could Sutton apply to help develop the ground or did tooting get it all??

the ground is like a stage and, as such , we should look to giving the spectator the best view and involvement in the game as possible ; a feasability commitee should be set up to assess the whole aspect and ,inevitably , the costs and options on raising that finance and over what period; some people will always want to keep spending money on the team for a short term fix ; this would be money spent for long term benefit.

Is this your "radical" idea? I was expecting a solution, not the suggestion of a commitee. I think a figure of about £150k has bean bandied (sp) around before. Any ideas on how to raise that sort of money? I will keep on doing the lotto.

Hardly anything new here is there. I thought it was bleedin' obvious that it was all about money. If you got any to give away Mr Meldrew, why not approach the chairman?
We've done one end the Collingwood end is a little more involved & expensive to re-model.

Only 150K? Sounds like a reasonable fund raising target over a period of 10 years?!! Not easy but attainable. Maybe the club could fund 50k and then fund raising 100k?! Would certainly make for a better atmosphere/watch at GGL.
Maybe with a big effort?! Maybe I'm completely off here?

Firstly I only think £150k was mentioned, secondly if you are planning to raise it over ten years do you not think the price may have gone up?
