I will definitely be going Tuesday and will be feeling quite confident, hopefully Matt will put out a 1st team side and if we can play in our 3rd team strip and with maybe a tweak to the usual setup we’ll win. I personally think that the new white strip is a no no psychologically, it distorts the view of the player with the ball as regards to whom they should pass to. Silly I know but that’s just my personal opinion as on the whole we can play football and to a great extent, just keep it on the ground a bit more.🤔

Yes, white is the third kit. I expect the team will be in amber for this one.
I shan't be there, as I'm one of those who doesn’t believe that Premier League U21 sides should be allowed in this competition.

Sorry got confused with changes to kit mainly because I really like our special amber and chocolate because it’s a winning formula. By the way has anyone seen the weather forecast for Tuesday, 40+ winds so should be an entertaining as well as interesting game.

Can't see us playing anywhere close to the first team - quite the midweek/weekend fixture list coming up

Villa U-21’s had their usual disappointing start to the PL2 campaign – which was caused by Aston Villa’s policy of encouraging players to go out on loan in the Football League rather than stay in the U-21 squad. There are six players on loan: two at Plymouth, one each at Bradford, Bristol Rovers, Rotherham and Stockport. After losing to the Baggies and Southampton the re-assembled side settled down. Only injury time equalisers by the home team denied Villa-U21 all the points at Man City (4-4) and Brighton (2-2) - two strong academies - and in between they beat the Rams 3-1. If you haven’t seen PL2 football - it is very clean with hardly any deliberate fouls. No backchat to the ref and no ham-acting for the gallery, which is mainly the players’ relatives. There are hardly any long balls forward in the air – the football stays on the ground more than in FL2. A League team will have a massive advantage in weight, strength, and stamina. Also, in the case of Sutton a height advantage, over Villa U-21. I expect these advantages to be decisive in the penalty areas. Villa U-21s could hurt U’s on the counter attack with the number of players they get forward with the ball carrier. If U’s don’t track back better than they have recently, they could be outnumbered in their own box after a counter attack, and if U’s right back isn’t in position Villa’s overlapping left back Munroe will cause real danger. I doubt Duran or Ramsey will play but another player who has made the first team bench is Kellyman, and others to look out for are Kobei Moore, Rico Richards, Josh Feeney and both O’Reilly’s. I respect Amber Aleman’s opinion but for once do not agree with him. I have supported Villa since 1957 and U’s since 1959, so I have been waiting 64 years to see Sutton United v Aston Villa on the entrance- board: I will be there. I think clubs like U’s with a tight budget should consider a loan of a PL youngster – it is a lot cheaper than buying a player then finding he does not work with your set up. You may say there are 9 PL teams nearer than Villa, but the difference is the players, coaches and agents of the London clubs think a loan to League 2 is beneath them. Villa don’t think that way, they loaned Jack Grealish to Notts County. Sallycat asked in another blog who I will support? I don’t know – I hope to enjoy the game.

Must have been the FA Cup Final against Man U. 1958 for Sutton for me.

See Matt has taken my suggestion prior to last Saturday's game to play Kizzi at CB - pace in the back four tonight.Think we might struggle for goals as Aston Villa - like Chelsea last season will try and emulate Barcelona so we won't have much of the ball. Pereira has promised more than Mellor thus far. Tonight is a free hit- let's not waste it and try and gain a slight confidence boost. Hart has the most to gain from tonight and ergo the squad.

Well, we did not lose the match. That's about all I will say on this one. I was not there so cant really say how decent Villa were and if it was a good result. I don't want to be negative so will just say its just good just to end the rot. As for Saturday... hmmm.

A Sutton side playing with more confidence would have won the game with ease.

Is it just me or are the penalty shootouts ridiculous when a game is a draw? If you draw 2-2 shouldn't it be a point apiece? The only thing I can see a benefit in having them is it gives players more experience when in a situation when a penalty shootout matters more. It just seems a trifle unfair that Sutton end up with zero points.
