Most importantly, we earned three points today. It didn't matter how we got them. With Forest Green and Colchester both winning, we desperately needed a win just to keep in touch with the clubs just above us. Thanks to Harry Beautyman's heroic late header, we got there.
Bradford are out-of-sorts, and we took advantage in the first half, Josh Coley's solo goal giving us the lead. But they stepped up a gear in the second half and we didn't match them. It was no great surprise when Andy Cook headed the equaliser from a corner, though one has to ask why such a proven goalscorer wasn't more closely marked. Luckily for us, things turned around.
Let's not kid ourselves. Despite today's result, we're still bottom of the table and favourites for the drop. Our next three league games are against Colchester, Tranmere and Grimsby, all in the bottom third. I reckon we need to win at least two of those.

Delighted to see the Us pick up 3 points today. Still hoping you'll be a league club next season

Agree with others here praising Coley. I thought N'Guessan and Craig Clay were great today too in the middle of midfield.
A slight tweak to the formation seems to have made us tighter and less vulnerable.

If you keep Apter quiet then I reckon you'll beat Tranmere. They're dire. Reminded me of us (Stockport County) the year we dropped out of the football league. Utterly toothless.

Lots of good performances today but Josh Coley seemed to step up a gear, his best performance for us so far I think, and Harry B was fantastic down the wing showing real leadership and got his just rewards.

Good performance. We had them under control the first half, and I expected them to give a bit more in the second half as Bradford have a big budget and good players that were there to see.
Rode our luck at times but their goal was a bit of a keeper erorr. But because we are making teams have to work a bit harder, they dont find it as easy to tuck it away. We were more composed and scored a good winner.
N'Guessan had yet another good game and I think is a great signing, Clay was also decent today, Good game and finish by Coley, Smith had to play against the crap reff as well. Why oh why do we keep getting such awful refs? Harry B worked his socks off and scored a great header.
Have to say, the team are still playing for Matt which is vital right now. I still think there was about a 15m period where we had a hole in midfield, But other than that another good performance and signs things are coming together a bit more. Though I am certainly not getting carried away, we have a big task ahead.

Also, is pushing a defenders head down with your hand while heading at goal, allowed? as thats what Bradford's scorer did with their goal. (See images posted on another thread)

Very pleased we won. Still plenty of work needed on the training ground if we are to win at an improving Colchester.
It seems that the problems that we have had this season relate to the wingers who have not tracked back and helped out the fullbacks which is essential to the way we play. Harry is not a winger so we lose something going forward but he is able to track back helping the defence.Coley is slightly better in this respect but still Matt had to bring on Jackson to help out the defenders. If he can get our wingers more adapt at this then we can be more of a threat as it is obviously preferable to have attack minded wide players who can track back as well.He had two other wide players he could have brought on but chose not to.

I think that Harry Smith is suffering the same way that Peter Crouch seemed to with foreign refs. Because he's taller than most he gets accused of being at fault when he's not. He can definitely hold his own though as it's usually 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.

It seems that Omari Patrick has fallen out of favour a little, perhaps because he doesn't track back enough. When he and Sam Hart played together on the left we were a threat going forward on that wing but too often left exposed to counter-attacks. Rob Milsom and Harry Beautyman are a very different proposition, less pacey but much more of a barrier to opponents marauding down that flank.
I have to add that yesterday's winning goal was a thing of beauty(man). The build-up play from Ryan Jackson and Craig Clay was exquisite, and the latter's arcing cross fell perfectly for Harry coming in on the far post.

And she didn't need an umbrella. But Sutton still won! We met a few really decent Bradford fans today too. You must have got home sharpish. When I got back to my car the rain had started and while I was passing Guildford cars were aquaplaning on the A3.

Jumped on a train at West Sutton, got off at Sutton main station and had a sly one in The Old Bank. Got on another train to London Bridge about 30 minutes later, and landed in Tunbridge Wells around half past seven. I think. My head was swirling around at this point! Always under cover though. 😂

There’s always some pushing in the box, always has been, but Smith was repeatedly held and wrestled to the ground before the ball even reached him. That’s not six of one, it’s bad refereeing.
