Never a good time to have off-field worries but certainly not needed on the eve of this weekends FA Cup tie. After securing an excellent win against Bradford last weekend with a decent performance to boot I really hope we can follow this up for Saturdays cup tie against AFC Fylde from the National League. Important for financial reasons of course (£41,000 should we progress) but also to build momentum for some important looking league games through November.
At the time of the first round draw I think Fylde were rock bottom and had just sacked their manager but have since got a few results together under head of football Chris Beech (was in charge of Carlisle when we beat them 4-0 in our first season in the league). We’ve had previous meetings with Fylde - 3 seasons running in the National League before they received demotion during the Covid affected season of 2019-20.
Won’t be a stroll but play like we have in our last three games we should progress through - certainly wouldn’t want a replay!

Really tough game on Saturday and they must be full of confidence. I expect we will use two wingers to start and go at them from the beginning. £41000 up for grabs in this round which i believe we might need.

I don't think we should change anything. Stupid to do so when we are just getting things going.

I wonder whether the new director will be introduced to the fans on Saturday providing Ciaran allows the game to go ahead. We may give Louis John some game time as I believe Ben Goodliffe is unavailable for the next league game ( 5 bookings) . May depend on Whether Omar has recovered.

Excellent news! I see it's a pound cheaper so presumably a smaller version but I'm still happy with that. On to the match. To misquote Lady Bracknell, "To lose to Farnborough may be regarded as a misfortune. To lose to Farnborough and Fylde looks like carelessness." With that in mind I'm trusting the management and players will be fired up not to fall at the first hurdle again.

We certainly don't want a replay. That might even be worse than losing on Saturday!
If there is a replay, our EFL Trophy match at Charlton would have to be rearranged from the 14th. And we know how Matt values clear weeks without Tuesday night fixtures.

I do know 'banana skin' and all of that, but we do need to start stringing some positive results together so, in my view, matching up against lower league opposition for a useful sum of cash is a pretty good deal for our next match.
Last Sat. was an important result but we're still in the position where we must (operative word) build on that and not start blowing things again.

I don’t see Fylde as any better or worse than anyone else we’ve played. Important game, we need to turn up and look to take it to them.

James Durkin is his name, any other info. re him and Sutton? Son of former PL ref, Paul Durkin. Comes from Portland I think. I think he did our last match at Yeovil. Didn't think he was an EFL ref, which is the usual qualification for this type of tie, although may have been promoted.
