Thought overall a touch fortunate to come away with a point though for parts we looked the better side. The 2 chances towards the back end of the first half would normally be buried and unlikely we would have got back from there. Cut open a bit easily for those and the goal, small tweaks to tighten as we made it too easy. We kept going and good to get on the board away from home. Disappointed that players trying to cheat other players into being sent off aren’t themselves shown a yellow (or red) card. Needs sorting out retrospectively with long bans to put an end to it.
3 points next week would be a huge boost and get us into the mix a bit.

If you want to take the pessimistic view, we were poor today and we scraped a point.
If you prefer to take the optimistic approach, we battled hard and in a game low on quality (particularly in the final third of the pitch!), came away with a point thanks to a dogged, persistent and resilient performance in spite of the fact that we were facing a team that had won their last 3 in the league!
And if someone had offered us a point before the game, I daresay the majority of us would have taken it.

Bit more confidence in the locker from getting a result away. Need to back it up again next week.

I disagree with that opinion Cheshire. Yes they missed two good chances in the closing moments of the first half, but Coley tried a chipped cross when he could have shot from8 yards, O’Brien slid one narrowly wide but could easily gave scored and they blocked several second half efforts (almost) on the line. Gape looked good and I thought overall we were worth more than a point. We still give the ball away too cheaply though.

And we face Tranmere after they won today and will come to us with confidence. We need to really get behind the team next week!
Check out N'Guessan (no8) in the highlights when scored, thats what I like to see lads. 😃

Our possession stats are poor because we continually give the ball away.

Players get away with simulation these days because the referees are incompetent. This guy was no different. I will keep banging on about it but English football is in dire straits when it comes to officials.
Not sure what Harry S got booked for but whatever it was, the ref didn't see it, so guessed. No problem with our other three yellows but once again the home side given more leeway. Would be nice if that was to happen on a similarly consistent level at GGL. Don't hold your breath.
As for the possession stats being against us it's not just cos we don't keep it so well but because that's not our way. Not sure where that poster has been for the last four seasons or so if he/she etc, hasn't worked that out yet.
Thought Dom G did well for his first start in any football this season.
Have to agree, next week huge after Tranmere defeated the ten men of FGR.
Thought we was good for that point today, certainly Colchester was no better than us. Yes, they had two great chances late in the first half but we had two decent ones too.
A big fillip to grab a point so late in the day. Now to build on breaking our points duck away from home.

I think the yellow for Harry Smith was "given" by the 4th official, alerting the ref to some WWF action in the box. Harry was being closely marked/man-handled and so he shoved the guy away! Seems like he was punished for the "retaliation" element. Altho Im not sure why the 4th official thinks he has a better view from the side line than the ref on the edge of the penalty area!!

Guy was pulling Smith’s shirt off his back, he pushed him off and went down rolling around clutching his face. You’re right no chance it was seen by any official.

Maybe we should change our way then? Instead of winning the ball back and then just booting the ball aimlessly forward into the oppos half or directly out of play to give them back possession. Perhaps we could do something with it?

Well, if you think that's our way, then once again I ask where have you been for the last four years. Were you with Fiona on that Scottish beach?

Perhaps we could do something with it? Agree we gave the ball away too cheaply quite a lot today. When we do keep it and play through the midfield and down the wings we always do much better. It sometimes seems players are not comfortable with the ball and just want to get rid of it as quickly as possible. Maybe a bit more communication between them is needed when they do have time, or from us?
