Very pleased to come away with a point after a battling performance. We were as said previously very wasteful with our possession. On the attacking side we really do need to play a left sided winger as the team seems unbalanced and too predictable without one. I can see why Harry is playing there at present but it curtails our forward momentum. Good debut from Dom who looks classy and able to make a pass.

Well at least today we found a club with a tannoy system as bad as ours.could not hear clearly anything being said reference the remembrance day service as I expect could not many given the cheering at the start of the minutes silence, spoke to a steward he said the system to the away stand has been broken there for most of the season. Playing two right footed players on our left lead to Kizzi's booking and played a part in their goal, as well as limiting our forward play, lack of player availability forcing the decision , our two players there kept at it and just about kept their 42 in check. We gave the ball away far too easily throughout the game, to say otherwise would not be honest, far too many long punts finding their way off the field mind you in the second half Colchester tried to match us on this count. The players though did not fold on going behind and forced the equaliser. I think this represents the first time since last March we have come back in the league to win a point. Hopefully the growing determination to improve will continue. No mid week game let's hope some extra time is spent on free kicks several yesterday were wasted either by poor delivery or being caught offside each avoidable especially with set pieces our main weapon. 3 games without defeat now is to the players credit. There is a spark of hope but a lot to do to fan the spark into a flame.

Not a problem hoofing the ball long or out of play if under pressure or there is no alternative but we need to have he alternative more often.

I see that both Joe Kizzi and Harry Smith are on 4 bookings now . They need to be very good boys for the next 3 matches at least.

Players get away with simulation these days because the referees are incompetent. This guy was no different. I will keep banging on about it but English football is in dire straits when it comes to officials. Not sure what Harry S got booked for but whatever it was, the ref didn't see it, so guessed. No problem with our other three yellows but once again the home side given more leeway. Would be nice if that was to happen on a similarly consistent level at GGL. Don't hold your breath. As for the possession stats being against us it's not just cos we don't keep it so well but because that's not our way. Not sure where that poster has been for the last four seasons or so if he/she etc, hasn't worked that out yet. Thought Dom G did well for his first start in any football this season. Have to agree, next week huge after Tranmere defeated the ten men of FGR. Thought we was good for that point today, certainly Colchester was no better than us. Yes, they had two great chances late in the first half but we had two decent ones too. A big fillip to grab a point so late in the day. Now to build on breaking our points duck away from home. I think the yellow for Harry Smith was "given" by the 4th official, alerting the ref to some WWF action in the box. Harry was being closely marked/man-handled and so he shoved the guy away! Seems like he was punished for the "retaliation" element. Altho Im not sure why the 4th official thinks he has a better view from the side line than the ref on the edge of the penalty area!! It would be nice to have a fourth official spot something in favour of us for once. The refs are diabolical this season. The fourth official spotted Smith reacting to be stamped on the foot against Barrow but never saw the first stomp. Seems refs have it in for us for some reason, we are a strong side but by no means dirty. I am not a fan of Var but even that's better than this lot.

2 points here...seems that a retaliation attracts a harsher punishment than the initial contact. Secondly is Harry Smith (like Omar last season) on the officials radar right from the start!?!?

It does seem that attacks on Harry Smith are completely ignored until he does something about it himself, either complaining to the officials or retaliating - both of which get him penalised before the aggressor. Maybe as he is a big bloke they just assume he can take it, but he really just shouldn’t have to, and the worry is he will end up getting an injury that could be prevented by better officiating to cut it out right at the start of the matches.

I disagree that we need 2 wingers. Since we've only played with one things are improving. We were too open.

We looked much more purposeful after they scored and we brought on Patrick. Other teams will realise they only have to stop us on one wing and play accordingly.
