The third of what i have previously described as 3 pivotal matches in our season. Having only taken 3 points so far we really need to kick on Monday afternoon and close the gap between the 3rd from bottom team. However if we are without Harry Smith its going to be very difficult. It's the way we play and without him Jason needs to come up with a different plan. Newport are in the relegation mix and 13th in the form guide.Dominic Gape was impressive at AFC and hopefully will start. Will we see Eastmond on the bench as Jason said he is back in training as is John & Kasimu ?

If the club are not appealing to Smith's red card, then he will be out for a minimum 3 games? If so, will the management turn to Angol, who as in the past, covered for Smith, to a lesser effect. Or will the management use a different approach? It will be interesting to see who is going to play, regarding injuries etc. It's going to be another tough game.
I like to wish everyone on the forum a very happy new year. And I hope you get what you wish for!!??

Yes hoping Gape just wasn’t risked in games so close together rather than adverse reaction to playing at AFCW. Hopefully he is fit for an hour again. Eastmond must be close to bench spot too.
Could see Sowumni and Goodliffe starting if both have come through 2 half games ok. Kizzi/Jackson could share a half each to spare them as they’ve both played a lot recently. Pereira and Patrick likely starters as both didn’t play too long at Gillingham.

How’s the weather in Sutton today? Unbelievably wet in Swindon!

How’s the weather in Sutton today? Unbelievably wet in Swindon! Quite heavy rain last evening/night and some heavy showers today. Must admit, after the Harrogate cancellation I’ve been hoping they’ve got covers on at the moment to stop the pitch getting too wet.

Weather forecast for next 24 hours isn't too bad. I'd be surprised if a pitch inspection is required.

Appeal for Smiths red unsuccessful - utterly ludicrous, this sport is becoming so sanitised.

Think we’ve scored 1 in 4 in the league and that was from a centre back. Surely we have to get a replacement somehow from somewhere!

Now we know Smith is out for 4 games it will be interesting to see how Jason is going to play the game without Smith. As I said earlier he may use Angol as a replacement. But he is not a target man. Have to wait and see Tommow how the team lines up.If Eastie is fit, he could be given half a game to pick up match fitness. Apparently there are no new injuries.

I don't want to be too annoying but I am not at all surprised that the appeal was unsuccessful. I guess it was worth a try.
Anyway, oppo for another forward to make a mark. Just have to look at it that way.

I imagine it was his previous, which was also harsh as well! As he has 4 games now. Cant stand aspects of the game today, no common sense whats so ever. At least they tried. We lose one of our best players for four games (which could relegate us) because of one challenge where he won the ball and clearly had no intent on fouling anyone. Hopefully we can scrap from a win tomorrow, lose him for the FA cup game, then only two more games without, mind you, those are tough games. Still, 2 wins in 6 games would actually be an improvement anyway! especially if we can also pinch a draw along the way, Big game tomorrow.

Forgive my ignorance, but will Smith’s ban rule him out of the Plymouth match? I was under the impression that league bans were competition specific. Probably wrong though…
